Re: Edgware GN,
Manna, Great station building will look the business with notice boards and the odd advert. I notice what I presume to be the pressfix LNER sheet ‘GN’. I have been working on a few of these lately and a few other GN wagons and after looking long and hard I found POW sides produce these transfers of ...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER Garage Layout
Thank you for all the comments E2E, Bufferstop, Jim, mana, timbersurf and Expat, I think Glencairn hit the nail. The grand plan was just that, however it would never be an exhibition standard layout which I think is the hope and dream of many. I hope what I have in mind will be just as pleasing to t...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER Garage Layout
Hi Jim, Thanks for the photo link, I find any derby picture interesting so I will endure that it’s kept for my records . Well it has been a long time since my last update and there is reason for it. Unfortunately I have decided to call it a day with this layout. I found that it was just too big and ...

Re: Edgware GN,
Well your results for a first time look great so far and I will be looking forward to seeing your results with the bow pen. It is somthing that I have thought about but also know nothing about at the same time, so it would be good to know the product you use and show us all your handy work when you ...

Re: Edgware GN,
The loco looks great and the lining brings it to life. Do you plan on lining out the coaches, and if you do what's your preferred method?

Re: Derby Friargate LNER Garage Layout
Hi mana, yes it's a great picture, I have a framed copy my self, I had the pleasure to meet the artist a few years ago at the Midland rail ex. Funny fact, I actually used that picture as the basis to scratch build my friargate bridge. I traced the span from the right to half way then doubled that ov...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER Garage Layout
Timbersurf Thank you for your comments, the walls are a bit of a bash from left over Wills retaining walls, all that was used were the pilar sections and the coping stones. The walls them selves are Wills english bond brick sheets cut to size and double backed. Once the glue was set I added the curv...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER Garage Layout
I took a steer away from the shop build to actually start some scenic modelling which was great although in the very early stages. I decided to pick a corner and expand as I go building what I need to complete each area. Hopefully this will prevent me experiencing what I normally do when I go in the...

Re: Edgware GN,
Nice coaches, I have got one of the kirk kits for the artic twin still to do, I was wondering if it would be easier to bash two hornby suburban teaks together?!? I do worry how it would ride, so it's nice to hear yours navigates ok.

Another great looking bridge, you certainly have the knack of the weathered stone. I look forward to seeing it bedded in to the embankment with scenics.
Cheers

Re: Alex3410 - My Railway
Hi, great stuff going on here, and I echo what you say about flat surfaces ha. I notice that you are using the Hornby viaduct / arches. I really like these and think that they look so much better than card. I have used them myself. I have also noticed like me you have got a cross over on it. I have ...

Re: Edgware GN,
I really like the look of the WW1 livery. Even though some may say it is quite drab, I think it is quite attractive, I was once considering doing it to one of my J6's (J22) but would be totally out of era. Maybe a flash of Humbrol Saturn enamel varnish will do the trick for the coach. Depending on t...

Re: Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland
 jim again fantastic build and detail. The prototype that I will be modelling is also a bit of a mystery interns of how the coal was moved. I can only presume either a similar method to yours or a hoist crane. The one in slack lane had a level road for the wagons with coal to the engine that ...

Re: Derby Friargate LNER Garage Layout
Thank you Timbersurf, yes it is an eye catching livery. Makes a nice contrast to the Grey and browns of most NE wagons. The blue was for district engineering stock under the LNER. I don't have a rail crane but I have brought the trackside Ruston Bucyrus LNER Skimmer which will make a great addition ...
