I found a photo of this loco as exworks on the net.I`m not certain whether the background colour was red or black,i also found a Golden Age loco with this finish & red backed plates.The plates are from the Modelmaster heritage range which are made to fit the raised pad.The LMS livery is correct ...

I think it was the way purchase tax was levied in those far off days,the finished item incurred more tax than the kits.

I don`t think so,it`s written by an engineer who was involved in the construction of the line.Very interesting read from his life story.Pity the line came to a sad end.
