Vehicle Scale

Hello and a belated happy new year.
I am trying to build a timber yard but struggling to find a logging lorry with side bars, I have seen many examples but they are all 1/50 scale, is this acceptable on a 00 gauge layout, if not does any member know where I can get one.
Thanks
Ian

DCC Question

Still new to this, a friend of mine said why do you not go DCC instead of Analogue - pause OK what is DCC? so he sets of to explain, after 20 minutes I lost the will to live, seeing he lives in another country I could not ask him to pop round and show me. OK I get the idea but how do you wire it up,...

Re: Cheap Flock

Hi Dave, great idea never thought of sawdust, there is a wood yard just down from where I live and I often pop in to pick up scrap wood, thanks for the tip. PS great model. Ian Note, If anyone has a timber yard where they live it is a great source for scrap wood, just give them them a couple of quid...

Re: Cheap Flock

Hi John, I totally agree with your comments and to be honest if you are in a rush and want a quick fix then that is the way to go. As a hobby is it not more fun to make your own, to have the joy of seeing what you have created not by someone else, (scratch builders would agree with me), you can make...

Cheap Flock

Vandal Update

If you are interested then read on, if you are not interested do not read. The old thread has been locked but in my opinion members need to know what is going on with this tragic case, a case that shocked enthusiasts world wide. This is what I have read in my local paper.. The sentence of a fourth b...

Re: Wanton Vandalism of layouts

Going off topic slightly - Blimey, I thought railway enthusiasts were gentle folk with reduced testosterone, obviously reading some recent comments about this subject how wrong am I. My dad once said to me, if you do not like the programme on TV switch it off , suppose same goes with this topic, if ...

Re: Wanton Vandalism of layouts

Agreed this looks like a slapped wrist however if you closer two bits of information are not really explained. 1. The parents are going to be out of pocket, this will not make them happy, if they default with the payment they will be charged. 2. One culprit is going to be sentenced on the 2nd Septem...

Re: Where we came from...

This a very good post. If the old (sorry not PC there, - mature) and the wise heads on this forum stepped back slightly, took time to remember their humble beginnings and marvel at what we you achieved and then think of the new enthusiast who needs a little help. I for one is on a massive learning c...

Replace Couplings

Right do not laugh, still new to this hobby. I have obtained a couple of 00 gauge wagons some have missing couplings and a couple have damaged ones, now the question, I have noticed that a couple have what looks like brass rivets holding the coupling to the body of the wagon, if I drill them out and...

Re: Avoid this eBay trader!!!!

Hi Tiddles, Thanks for the heads up, have you tried to get him black listed via E Bay, surely if he has done it to you he would have done it before and they will have a record.
Only a thought.
