Re: Masons Corner

Pete, Perhaps your mistake was making room in the cupboard by selling off some stock. When every storage space is full it becomes more difficult to justify more …… although I think the shed has some space. Geoff T I have a rule now Geoff. All new purchases must be self financing. I may have to wait...

Re: Masons Corner

Hi John, Just Don't ever suggest 3 link !!!! I believe you have a Hornby Ruston 48DS ? Does it have NEM type pockets ? Hatton's pictures have the blanking cover on the front & match truck on the back so I can't see. I was thinking one might be ideal for this. Yes I agree I do not need another l...

Re: Standard class 2 78xxx

Hornby had this pre-decorated sample on display at Model Rail Scotland this weekend. Although an information card behind the loco stated availability is January 2021 I managed to ascertain that they are in fact hoping for an April or May delivery this year. 78xxxcrop.jpg 78xxxcrop2.jpg Mmmmmmmmmm t...

Re: Diesels at Crown Point and Sovereign St.

I used to have relatives up in that area near Shotley Bridge, Ebchester. Went up to visit regularly when I was a kid. Used to go to Consett and look at the steel works which is now long since gone. Always remember the red dust that used to be everywhere from the steel works. Sadly they have all pass...

I love this 3 rail layout.
It takes me back nearly 60 years to my very first layout.

Re: Bachmann, no new OO announcements for 2020

I've just received an invitation from Bachmann to attend the 'Bachmann New Product Showcase - Midlands' at Hinckley. I'm a member of the Bachmann Collectors Club and it appears they have started opening this usually 'trade only' event to club members. It's on Wednesday 5th Feb. Transport is no prob...

Selling/Trading in surplus rolling stock with the likes of Hattons and Rails.

Hi guys. The transfer of the rolling stock on PETERSDALE from their original boxes to the recently purchased stock boxes continues apace. Of course this little exercise has led me to the depths of my stock cupboards and unearthed some of my earliest rolling stock used way back on PETERSDALE mark 1. ...

Re: New Range announcements

The 78xxx 2-6-0 would look good on PETERSDALE but at £160+ and not available till Jan 2021 I think I'll give it a miss. Of course there's plenty of time to change my mind LOL.

Re: What was your first model train?

December 25th. 1960. I was 8 years old. I went into what we called 'the front room' at home on Christamas morning to find an oval of Hornby Dublo 3 rail track and a siding on an 8x4 baseboard. On the track was a tank engine. I can't remember which one it was, only that it was BR black along with a m...
