Re: Stranger returneth with loft layout plans
Thanks for the comments so far it certainly seems that this idea isn't out of reach. Unfortunately we are in a heritage area due to being a Garden City so although we don't need planning permission for sun pipes I do need to get consent from the Heritage Foundation. Electrics aren't a problem as I d...

Stranger returneth with loft layout plans
Been away for a while as we've been busy moving house and planning kitchen and garage extensions which are due to commence in the next couple of months (Covid permitting). Rather happy to say that my good lady has given the green light for a layout in the loft which means I can go far bigger than my...

Re: First time with point motors query
Thank you.
Think I might tinker with a signal box and mount switches in the roof for all the motorised points.
The Hornby switches without a CDU and single motor operation will at least get me started

Re: First time with point motors query
Ah cool, thank you. May need to wire it as 2 switches as an interim measure and add the CDU when I motorise some of the other less accessible points.

First time with point motors query
I'm still tinkering away and fed up of traipsing round the board to flick the 2 extremeties points, I bit the bullet and ordered a couple of Peco point motors and some Hornby switches. Never needed to consider them before as my old board from my childhood was about 4'6" x 5'6" and my dad a...

Re: Newbie with plans
Well after a while away working on my automotive projects the board was brought back out and further tinkering followed. Due to a change of circumstances we are now looking to move house in the next 12 months where we have decided a bedroom will be given over to my model railway and the bosses craft...

Converting old locos to DCC?
Apologies if this has been covered before I did have a quick look. I have a decent collection of locos and was perfectly happy with everything. However I went over to see a friend at his dad's place and had a tinker with his DCC setup and have to admit to being rather impressed. It seems converting ...

Re: Perhaps a Guilty Secret ?
Remember watching Ashes to Ashes and spotting a mk6 Transit van. As well as the howler that was the Quattro itself which was a later model than it should have been.

Re: First Model Railway Journey
Hello and welcome. Appreciate the slow progress thing, mine lept forward in Jan then stalled as I keep mucking about with other things.

Re: My first ever model railway build.
Nice to hear as I didn't bother with underlay. Seems a recurring theme.

Me too. Imagine the business a stall at King's Cross would have done.

There were 4 or 5 people on the wrong side of the fence where I was and 1 even leaning against the catenary support post. Mad behaviour
