Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout
I photographed 120 at Southampton Central station way back in 1962 soon after restoration, so I just had to have this model.

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout
I'm still around and have been unwell since mid-December, hopefully I'm getting better and have major surgery due soon. Covid-19 has put everything back. Today I uncovered and ran Shawhurst the first time since Jan 31st and have my interest back. At Last years NEC Warley show I purchase a Dapol sole...

Shawhurst MPD on a Sunday in June 1958 where B4 30089 has recently arrived light from Eastleigh to work the coming week as Shawhurst’s station and carriage sidings pilot. Meanwhile B4 30096 has been prepared for its return journey to Eastleigh for its weekly boiler washout. Re-creating the regular w...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout
After spending most of my spare time during the recent months scanning negatives, I have finally made the time to fix an annoying issue concerning the longest siding in Shawhurst’s fiddle yard. When running a 2-6-0 or 4-4-0 loco with a Hornby 3 coach Maunsell set, the end of the rear carriage slight...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout
I added the last short platform to the carriage sidings back in early November. See attached photo along with one of the Wills G6 next to the coaling stage. I had planned to build some Ratio signal kits, however I've been spending much time scanning mid 1960's photo prints and collating the relevant...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout
I thought I had finished with the carriage sidings. However after giving this more thought I have now added a van in weathered SR livery used for storing cleaning and maintenance equipment. The van is trapped by an upturned sleeper and the track, wheels and axles painted dark rust.

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout
Concrete carriage cleaning and servicing platforms now in place and lightly weathered. The shorter staggered platform has been added due the curve on the outer siding. Additionally this allows for two of the longer Bullied coaches to be accommodated. The locally based painters have been busy with th...

Army saddle tank 98 Royal Engineer arrives at Shawhurst off the Hindhead branch on an operational training exercise from Longmoor and is passing Shawhurst Box 2. I have this loco and brake van in memory of my late father who was in the Royal Engineers based at Longmore in the Railway Operating Divis...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout
I’ve been thinking about the operational aspect of Shawhurst station and the branch line to Hindhead. Originally I was planning on using a push-pull fitted O2 or M7 with a Hornby Maunsell 2 coach push-pull set and having a second 2 coach push-pull set parked in the siding that runs behind the statio...

Shawhurst
Most of Shawhurst is now complete, hence starting the thread in this section. First photo: Shawhurst station with 2277 arriving with a train from Didcot while 2217 waits to couple up for the return journey. Second photo: 2217 coupled up and now that the branch 02 powered push-pull train connection f...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout
I mentioned a while back the small details which make a layout standout. I like the way you have added "greenery" at the base of the SR concrete walling - on "your" side of the layout above your operating table - not really necessary - but it's a finishing touch. A really great ...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout
How long will it take to complete and what was you quoted for a loco build if you don't mind me asking? I have got a GNR D2 kit which is out of my league which I would be interested in getting built. I know it's not cheep, but I hope it's everything you want wen you get it back Coops. Its going to ...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout
First picture Wills G6 body kit started late 1960's, almost completed apart from a few parts in the container, stored boxed up until recently and originally intended to fit on a Hornby R1 chassis. However the R1 chassis just does not look good by todays modelling standards so purchased (second pictu...
