Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

Thanks for your comments regarding keeping clean and tidy. I think a career in the Aerospace industry where everything is organised and structured has helped, plus I need to keep things tidy as I don’t have that much space to work and move around in. Not much progress at all over recent weeks due to...

Re: Where have you got your layout?

Shawhurst is squeezed into a small bedroom which had been used as a study of sorts, now It's my railway room. The first photo was taken from the entrance door. Behind me and shown in the second photo are two cupboards from Staples which house railway books and magazines etc. Onto top of these cupboa...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

Good progress Fratton. Really got that 'Southern' look. Pete (RailwayRobbo) Thanks Pete, the Southern look has been my aim. Concrete fence along the front of the layout is now completed and what a tedious task this became in the end! To the front side I now need to add some tufts of grass and the o...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

It really is coming together - it's the small details that make all the difference. The concrete wall looks very good - I've just added the same thing to the street side of my station. The trainspotters you added a little while ago - it makes such a difference. I must add some people to Wykeham. Ke...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

Ratio 529 concrete fence construction well under way along the front of the layout and a row of lights added to what will be a cinder path behind the fence leading to the signal box.

Re: Castell Mawr - A joint GWR/LMS route

Hi Geoff, It was good to meet you and have a good chat at the exhibition. I was really impressed with Castell Mawr. The attention to detail without overcrowding the layout looked spot on. Also impressive is the quality and the finish of the layout which is a tribute to the time, effort and dedicatio...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

I’ve added a few more people to the station, six train spotters in two groups (as a reminder of my train spotting days). Along with these I have five passengers on this platform and two on the other platform, and that I think is going to be all.

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

The assortment of huts, grounded vans etc for the maintenance/painters depot is now complete with the addition of two old Tri-ang huts R84/1 and R84/2 which I’ve had since way back when they first came out and along with the Hornby vans had to be used on my Shawhurst layout.

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

Working on adding SR Concrete style fence and access gates to the front of the layout. A gate is next to be added to cross the wide planking. I’m just waiting for the paint to dry.

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

Step back in time. Over the years I’ve collected several pre-nationalisation goods wagons, mainly SR plus one GWR wagon and four private owner wagons. I noticed a couple of weeks ago a new Hornby SR class 700 on sale at good clearance price. So I thought I’ll get that to go with the wagons I have an...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

Slow progress at the moment due to work required on the garden and around the house, however some yard lights with ladders have been added the back and front of the loco depot and a ramp and barrow crossing added to the maintenance/paint storage shed. The grounded van in the foreground is a Hornby D...

Re: Shawhurst - SR/WR OO gauge layout

Looking good Fratton. Looking very good indeed. High class storage you've got there for your rolling stock. Looks well organised. Pete (RailwayRobbo) Thanks for the encouraging comment Pete. The storage trays I obtained at this years Lutterworth Railway Society's model railway exhibition from JB's ...
