DCC Concepts OO bullhead flexitrack: A pretty good deal

For Aussies at least, though I think they are sorting out some UK distribution. Their "code 75 equivalent" stainless steel bullhead flexitrack is relatively cheap compared to the Aussie prices of Peco flexitrack that I've seen.

Re: Caernarvonshire countryside?

While looking for reference photos I saw that Royal Scots were used on the Holyhead route in LMS days, as well as black 5s to Bangor at least in BR days. Checking on the Cambrian after your post I found an unfortunately coy website that mentioned that Dukedogs and Manors were used before going on to...

Re: Caernarvonshire countryside?

Cheers for the idea, I never actually considered it, surprisingly enough. Also I realise I never actually posed an actual question, so TL;DR what essential features do I need to get the local character?

Caernarvonshire countryside?

Hello, I'm back home from uni for holidays and want to try and make some headway on the layout. I am pretty interested in the Big 4 era, and the LMS is probably my favourite of them, though I keep being drawn to the GWR. To that end I've been looking at network maps. Northwest Wales has the LMS line...

Re: Czech Narrow Gauge in TTe Part 2

Really nice layout, captures really well the railway in the landscape look which seems to be achievable in quite conservative space in the smaller scales.

Re: DCC Concepts' PowerBase rambling commentary

I made that reply early Saturday morning, if I replied after waking up I may have put a bit more thought into it. I think realistically I have to figure out the gradient without making a test track, I can probably at maximum do a 5 coach train with a nice mixed traffic tender locomotive, a loco and ...

DCC Concepts' PowerBase rambling commentary

I've resolved to save time, stress and timber by having the frame of my layout built by somebody with far more patience and competence with cabinetry than Dad or I have put together. This also means the layout design can be a bit more daring if somebody competent is putting it together, so I've been...

Re: GWR recommendations?

Thanks a ton for the answers, I think it would be prudent going for one of the mixed traffic locomotives. The 28xx is pretty flash, but would be a later purchase, I've got a limited budget and am after a skeleton stable for starters, it might come in eventually at locomotive 3 or 4; one of the reaso...

GWR recommendations?

If I were to buy a GWR tank and an express passenger locomotive from one of the main manufacturers, based purely on the quality of the model and not on a favourite class what would you recommend?
