Re: Inverkeilor 1950 to the end of steam

From lurking on RMWeb, I see you have queries regarding the yard points. If you search flickr for the user "Llangollen_signalman" he has photographs of Inverkeilor including one of the signal box diagram which might help.

Don't forget Powsides. https://www.powsides.co.uk/www.powsides.co.uk/info.php?p=7 Also useful as a starting point is the pdf at the following link: https://http://mmrs.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/P-O-wagon-index.pdf This gives a list (may not be wholly accurate) of what was out there.

Re: I need a little help please

"C" denotes a composite coach.

Standard coaches had 2+1 seating.
Tourist coaches had 2+2 seating.

You may find the following link a useful starting point.

Re: Railway Quiz, c'mon post a question.

Still no takers so time to end the misery and the answer is: Henry Alfred Ivatt, CME of the Great Northern Railway between 1895 and 1911. His son Henry George Ivatt was the last CME of the LMS while his son in law was Oliver Bullied (last CME of the Southern Railway) I would suggest End2end poses th...

Re: Railway Quiz, c'mon post a question.

This question is dying a death so time for a final recap... The question was "name the father shared by two of the last CME's of the big four." So which of the four last CME's of the big four were related - you can choose from Bulleid, Ivatt, Peppercorn or Hawksworth You also know from pre...

Re: Railway Quiz, c'mon post a question.

As far as I know, Frank Hornby was not one of the last four chief mechanical engineers or CMEs of the big four. Look at who was in post at the LMS, LNER, Southern and GWR in 1947. One of those four had a father who also was a CME based at a certain northern loco works mentioned earlier.

Re: Railway Quiz, c'mon post a question.

Wrong century I'm afraid.

Another clue. The son in law might have been fond of spam considering the number of spam cans he was responsible for in the south.

Re: Railway Quiz, c'mon post a question.

Time for a clue...

Both the father and the son in law have strong links to Doncaster.

Re: Railway Quiz, c'mon post a question.

One of the things which always surprises me is how small the world of steam locomotive engineering was once you started the climb to the top. With that in mind, name the father* shared by two of the last CME's of the Big Four? *Reading the question again this morning, it seemed a bit too vague hence...
