Fitting seep point motors
:D I purchased a seep point motor today basically to see what's involved. My points are insulfrog so wiring up is straight forward. The one thing I noticed was that the "throw" of the point motor is much greater than the "throw" of the actual point. Would this not cause damage to...

Why paint what you can't see....LOlEnd2end wrote:I concur! But I also cheated and only painted the facing rails....shhh don't tell anyone.Notroh wrote:If you are using the 'brush' method, it is much the same, but slower.
Move along, nothing to see here.
Thanks

Re: My first ever model railway build.
Hi Marcus, Well.....you have been busy over the summer :) some lovely work there. Did you get the 'Track Pen' to do the track weathering? If so, it should be relatively easy, push down the 'knib' a few times on some card until the paint starts to flow, then just run the pen against the side of the ...

Re: My first ever model railway build.
Just a quick update on "Marcroft" a little more scenery added whilst the weather is still warm. Over the next few days I'm hoping to have a go at track weathering, not sure the best way but I'm sure they'll be some suggestions on YouTube. It's my intention to do another YouTube video also,...

Re: My first ever model railway build.
Spent a little time on Marcroft and added a little more of the scenery. Looking at the photo, the one thing that stands out is the track itself. With the N gauge show just around the corner I will be looking out for some track weathering pens I've seen, and this seems a very easy way to weather the ...

Re: My first ever model railway build.
just a little update on Marcroft station. I have yet to wire up platform lights, added a few passengers and burts hot dogs are selling well. Started to try and blend station into what will be countryside, as I would like to keep this part of layout minimal, industry wise. The one thing missing is tr...

Re: My first ever model railway build.
Evening all. A little while back I mentioned that I was revisiting parts of the layout I wasn't happy with and to be honest, I didn't like the sky or back drop I made, so decided on getting some Peco scenic backdrops that I think look so much better. I'm much happier with how it looks now and lookin...

Re: My first ever model railway build.
Crikey, you've achieved in a few days what took me about two years ! Looking good, and in my opinion no such thing as overkill with applying power to the track, every one of my sections has got droppers, tedious to do but better than having a section of dead track after all the landscaping has been...

Re: My first ever model railway build.
After a long couple of days I've completed the final ballesting and wired up all the droppers. I didn't get any comments on my last post regarding niggles about the station so that been secured in place ( no comments better than negative comments) I can look forward to cracking on now with the scene...

Re: fitting detail parts
Hi. I recently started building my first layout, having decided on "N" I have 11 loco with all the detailing bits still in bags. I decided not to fit any as I find it a little fiddly. If I were to fit the detailing, I would I suppose apply a tiny drop of superglue because if any bits fall ...

Re: My first ever model railway build.
Had a busy day with the old soldering iron, placed droppers before and after every point. I wasn't sure if it was a little overkill, but it definitely helps with track continuity with even my little Jinty showing greatly improved slow speed running. Obviously not quite as smooth as using electrofrog...

Re: My first ever model railway build.
Today was one of those occasions when I had the house to myself so I spent it in the shed. For the third time I've changed the station area, I made the platforms longer and wider as my first attempt felt a little short and narrow. Like the lake on first build and farm on second, will be central to f...
