Many decoders including Hornby's can be reset by writing 8 to CV8 which should return the decoder to factory settings when it should then have the default address of 3. Hi, Roger. For all the excellence of their better models - and the current Castle is in Hornby's top bracket - their execution of DCC leaves something to be desired. Try the reset and then try programming a new address, give it a go at least a couple of times to see if you can get an address change to 'take'....

I do not know about DCC but if you cannot change the code on the Castle, can you change the code on the other loco no 3 instead? Glencairn Hi, Glencairn.
