Re: Dapol Deltic model kit build

I've picked this up again after a gap.

I gave the engine a service as it had stopped running, then once that was done I ran it in for a while and it's now working quite a bit better.

lights on a deltic?

I'm building (very slowly) a kit of the deltic prototype. I've had a google and can't find information about the lights at the front and rear.

Anyone know what colours the lights would be for front and back of the loco?

Re: CowJam's April '15 Competition post: Russian papercraft

I'm not ready to document any more just yet, I'm having too much fun building.

I just wanted to say that the fire station is set in Chicago. How do I know? There's a map of Chicago on the inside:

Wallendorf Chapel card model kit link This will be mainly photos as I don't have a lot to add after my initial general description. The kit arrives in a clear plastic wallet: http://i.imgur.com/FcxRHb3l.jpg?1 It has two sheets of card parts, a toothpick for poking small bits out, and a sheet of ins...

Re: CowJam's April '15 Competition post: Russian papercraft

Background: I read this post and was intrigued by the Russian papercraft models, mainly because of their price. I had a look at Russia-Best website in the railway category and thought I'd give them a go. Not wanting to break the bank I kept my order relatively small. Items Purchased: I ordered one ...

Could you let me know what these are? Sounds useful for adding proper wheels to my cardboard models.

CowJam's April '15 Competition post: Russian papercraft

I'll be building cardboard models of a loco, two sleeping cars, a baggage car and two flatcars. And a church and a fire station.

This is on the proviso that I get the shed cleaned so my wife allows me access to the relevant parcel.

Re: And The Next Photo Will Have

I'm going to claim this as connected as I'm about ten miles from Rainhill and this thread is getting a bit slow.

Re: Russian Engine Shed

My order has arrived! I'm under strict instructions to tidy the shed before I get to play, but I have sneakily built one of the 20T flat cars. It doesn't roll, the wheels are fixed. I don't think it'll be a problem to add proper wheels, but this is going to be a necessity rather than a nicety if I w...

Re: Wiring LED strips

the red wire is positive, the black will be negative. hook them up to your power supply and see what happens. leds are resilient and unlikely to break if you get something wrong. it may be that they're individually addressable, ie, you can control each led individually. if you hook up the power in a...

Re: Making a lighthouse

You can buy flashing LEDs, though the flash is probably quite fast (I just had a quick look and the found a 12v, 10mm white flashing LED that flashes twice a second). That'd be your easiest option. You could use a non-flashing LED and a 555 timer (small and very cheap chip) to make it flash in a mor...
