Re: New Member and New Layout.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. Another option that lends itself well to small spaces is OO9. Price wise it is comparable to new OO stock, The range of stock is limited but is slowly increasing. Certainly it better suits branch and industrial lines, but this in turn kind of allows more modeler's licen...

Re: first buildings

Your bridge has come up very well. There's something very relaxing about watching a train trundle across a bridge. I'm never quite sure if it is the chance that the structure may fail, and the possible carnage.... :)

Re: 2-2-Toot Scenic Adventure

That was a clever and simple way to line that up Paul. I'm filing that away in the my cramped vault :) I've had a go at the mozzie zapper. And I was fairly dissapointed in it's effectiveness. It's supposed to run on 3 volts, so I hooked it up to a workshop transformer with varying voltages. It's ok ...

Re: 2-2-Toot Scenic Adventure

Today, covered all with a papier mache mix. Used plain old brown paper lunch bags, the pva was a 1 to 2 mix with water. And used paper towel tp soak up the puddles. Doing the vertical surfaces was achievable, but was a tad more time consuming that I would have thought. Nevertheless, progress :) Is i...

Re: Galgorm Hall - Reborn

I am quite satisfied with the path I am going to take. Paul Well done, considering all your options and their feasibility at this stage prohibits the "what ifs" later on. There are always going to be trade offs, now you know what they are and the reasons you chose them. Kind of like datin...

Re: Triang carriages

There are a few issues that could be the causing the derailing, and it could be a combination of them. 1, they are too light, try placing some coins along the roof with some blu-tac to see if that fixes the problem, if so then put some lead weight inside. Better that it is centred in the wagon than ...

Hi Paul, no it is pushed in, hard to pick up in the pic, but may need a bead or two removed. Clean up is easy, just let what ever is in the plastic tub dry then peel it off.

Re: 2-2-Toot Scenic Adventure

There appears to be too much inactivity with the toot toot adventure A virtual flurry of activity I tell you :o I ummed and ahhed about which lot of track to use, the sad lot or the pristine lot, but I weakened and used the sad lot. I'm going to solder up each piece of track anyway, and I I kinda f...

Re: Galgorm Hall - Reborn

Just throwing out food for thought. Looking at it operationally, you have your roundy roundy train operating and have operational interest by maneuvering wagons between your station sidings and the branchline. But I think that having that second passing loop allows you to have a second train going i...

Re: Galgorm Hall - Reborn

Might it not be simpler to have the fiddle yard coming off the branch line before it goes under (emerges from) the mainline in a straight run under the embankment the mainline is running on? Or are you trying to avoid any tunnels? I'm thinking your T intersection with double mainline may look a tad ...

Re: Ideas for an N gauge door sized layout.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Great layout plan, though you may need to double check your points, the second platform line and upper sidings dont allow for left line running, also entering the lower sidings would require reversing in. And maybe the first set of points from the second platform is supe...

Re: grass around goods yards

I've neen looking at a lot of old B&W vids recently to get a better view of life in the steam days, and since the OP posted the question, have been looking quite closely at weeds, or more precisely the lack of them. I do rather wonder if one of the things that affected the yards and lineside mig...

Re: Dad-1 - Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

Thank you for the Dapol wagon review, I've been holding off purchasing wagons as reports suggest that sticking to one manufacturer is less problematic. I have a few Bachmann ones, and find that a few of the couplers do not square to the body, and I was wary of the Dapol from reports of the "dro...

Great video music!!!!! 8)

If you haven't already, don't forget to invest in a Peco track rubber to help keep you loco running smoothly.
if you don't misplace it, it will last for years :)
