Re: Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland

Thanks Geoff.

A couple more pics of the Pigeon brake van after it's last coat of Railmatch
BR maroon paint. A coat of matt varnish needed now to complete and couplings to fit.

Re: Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland

Thanks Geoff T and TimberSurf. Not much happening modelling wise on Millsend, enjoying some running sessions now. Whilst trawling the internet I found this oddity, an LNER 4 wheel LWB Pigeon Brake Van. After reading up on their history, it seems a few survived through the sixties and 1 example laste...

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout

Well Pete, that looks absolutely perfect to me, have to say that in
my opinion Grimy Times are very good value for money and do an
excellent job.

It looks the business with the minerals in the siding.

Re: Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland

Just a short update on Millsend.

I sent a recent purchase away for weathering to Grimy Times and have
just received it back, very pleased with the look they have achieved.

A few shots of the 'Stove' in the parcel sidings.

Sorry to hear of Mrs. H's health Jim. I hope, like the other members, that you have an easy move to your new Bungalow. No. 1 is your wife Jim, railway modelling comes 2nd. At least when you do re-start on layout work, any mistakes or issues can be avoided or overcome by lessons learnt from Gateshead...

Re: Gateside and Northbridge (Incorporating the Allanshaw Inglenook)

Quote........'and if you stand on the toilet bowl you can just about see movements in and out of the station,'

Should toilet bowl and movements be mentioned in the same sentence?

Too much information.

Re: Gateside and Northbridge (Incorporating the Allanshaw Inglenook)

Yes Jim, cutting out the casting of the window opening and replacing with plastic or laser cut frames with glazing behind. I guess the difficult part is sourcing frames of the right size. Possibly http://www.lcut.co.uk or maybe Justin at Model Railway Scenery may be interested as they could probably...

Re: Gateside and Northbridge (Incorporating the Allanshaw Inglenook)

Before you leave Jim for the 'Crewe Hotel, Crewe, right next to the railway' you lucky blighter,
thought I would mention I have seen the windows cut out from Ten Commandments low relief stuff
and replaced with finer glazed frames.

Maybe an option to consider.

Re: Gateside and Northbridge (Incorporating the Allanshaw Inglenook)

Yes Jim, TimberSurf is correct, DCC and Relco units definitely do not get along at all.

As you are running on DC, you may find it still works, once you've taken out the Relco unit.

A quick way is to test it on a spare controller direct.

Best of luck.

Re: Gateside and Northbridge (Incorporating the Allanshaw Inglenook)

I have to say Jim, that looks absolutely brilliant. A first class job with all of it, but I especially like the over-grown sidings, they look spot on, very realistic indeed. Looking forward to seeing how the Ten Commandments buildings come out. Nothing to report on Millsend, enjoying running session...

Re: Gateside and Northbridge (Incorporating the Allanshaw Inglenook)

Wow - Thanks for the link Jim, very interesting.

Can't be many bridges you could stand on and have 20 tracks pass under you

I'm going back for a longer study using your link, thanks Jim.
