That has answered my question. I was wondering why it was not green and numbered 4472

Layout Design

Hi I lost my mojo when it came to building and more specifically wiring the layout and as a result the new layout has fallen to the wayside. A couple of days ago I rediscovered the mojo whilst building a metcalfe card kit and as a result I have spend the last couple of days on Scarm designing a layo...

National Festival of Railway Modelling

Took a trip over to Peterborough this morning to the National Festival of Railway Modelling. Mrs D and I had a nice time, lots to see, loads of traders and loads of space without the much feared crush and assault by rucksack One MAJOR problem for me though. If you are SHOWING a layout at an EXHIBITI...

Re: Metcalfe models

Love Metcalfe models. Straightforward to construct and look great.

As for mixing and matching - Remember rule 1 of Railway modelling - it is your layout, do whatever makes you happy.

Re: Taylors Bridge

Track laid and power to all parts.

However, because I forgot what Nick told me, I do not have the ability to run 2 locos simultaneously. Ah well, re wire and try again!

After this - wiring up the points!

Re: Taylors Bridge

Track laid. Next job is to measure and trim the cork

One question however. I have a Gaugemaster Model D controller and I know where the feed and return wires are going but I am not sure if I need insulated track joiners at any point. All of the points are insulfrog.

Re: Taylors Bridge

19.07.15 Baseboards are finally done. Every single leg was exactly the same length, even after securing to the base board. So why do have a a 1-2 mm lip between 2 boards. I will tell you why, the garage floor is not quite level. little bit of work to smooth over the lip and then tiling then paint th...

Re: Taylors Bridge

Thank you all The layout is smaller than the baseboard by design; I want some space to to some scenic stuff - my grandson wants his farm and I want my temperance bar. I have surface mounted points for ease of wiring as this will be my first attempt at having powered points despite knowing that they ...

Baseboard 1.jpg Baseboard 2.jpg I have the wood for the legs so all being well I will have them ready by the end of the weekend. Next will be drilling some cable holes and bolting them all together. Taylors Bridge

Afternoon all I have abandoned my first layout and it has been an expensive lesson identified in how not to do things. So what I have I learned 1. Plan, plan and then plan some more 2. Don't rush 3. When it comes to ballast, less is more 4. Know what you want to achieve 5. Take your time and enjoy t...
