Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

It's a great medium to build with GeraldH.
It's like Lego for modellers.
(I will point out that the yard office above is actually a plastic kit from Ratio though, free with Jan's Railway Modeller magazine)
Thanks

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

Thanks Dublo. One thing I forgot to mention was the triple layer of spray paint on the roof parts before the later dry brushed layers. This was my mistake (due to incorrect lids on incorrect shades of grey spray cans  ) and thus the roof has lost a lot of moulded detailing of the tiles ...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

As promised here is the yard office, now fully painted. YardOffice1sm.jpg YardOffice2sm.jpg YardOffice3sm.jpg YardOffice4sm.jpg I've only just noticed after the weathering, I will need to repaint the door handle in gold. An easy 10 second job with a gold marker. Something learnt on this kit. As you ...

Re: Diesels at Crown Point

What a load of old scrap, in the best sense of the word. :D
It looks brilliant and definatly more than a head nod to our railway heritage. Something not often seen on a model layout.
Can I ask glencairn, is that one of the new Horby Rocket train pack releases in the first picture?
Thanks

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

Almost a month without an update. I have been building my Ratio yard office kit that came free with January's issue of Railway Modeller magazine. No pictures to show yet as I still have the roof to add. I sprayed the roof parts once but (stupidly) I managed to mix up the the lids of 2 of the...

Re: More eBay nonsense...........

Ah the old 419 scam. Some Nigerian tried that nonsense on me, offering £5000 for a £500 pc. Do they think we are that gullible.
Not on ebay though.

1/50 will probably look way off scale.
You may find something from Oxford Commercials range that may fit the bill?

Re: Hornby Steampunk models

as for the models, honestly they look dreadful, they look like someones covered Hornby's cheapest rolling stock in superglue, launched it into waste plastic bin and the spray painted the result matte black with a dry brushing of silver for highlights to me they just look really cheap and awful :lol...
