Re: Clackwick Circa 1955

I do have a spreadsheet with all my passwords in to keep track of what I am signing up to, but it is a) password protected and b) I dont write the passwords down, only a crib that reminds what it is, because I only actually have 2-3. I have one for all online dealings like model railways and another...

Your maybe thinking of polystyrene, sleepers are not the sort of plastic Evostick damages.

Re: Pin, screw or glue? Track fixing preference & order.

Pins/screws never look realistic as they show Both will distort the track if in too hard or not hold the track if too loose. Both will connect to the board and transmit vibration, negating the use of cork for its sound deadening properties (as will glue ballasting) Gluing is the best option. Don't u...

Re: DC Sound Options - Help/ideas

Without tapping into the control throttle and measuring the engine 'load', synchronisation will be nigh impossible. DCC does exactly that and you can also get a device that taps into the same signals to drive a big amp and speakers under the layout to boost the base! With the advent of Blunami and H...

Re: Laser cut buildings - pros and cons

There is a very limited selection of laser cut items, compared to plastic kits, but the vast range of good plastic kits are HO! Laser cut can be extremely good, L-Cut being one of them. A great supplier is Petite Properties, but they tend to be plain faced, so need further work to make brick or ston...

GETS 2023

For the attention of all Model Railway Youtubers (and anyone one else who follows them) If you are going to GETS (the Great Electric Train Show) in Milton Keynes on the 14th or 15th October I would like to announce a Meet 'n' Greet time and place, for both days. A chance to meet each other and your ...

Re: St. Blazey's - My first layout - Stage 3 Building

Although I prefer the one on the right as it looks more worn, it has a very noticeably short repeat pattern, something that does my nut in!
I would use the one on the left and run over it with a brass brush to make it look less crisp and more worn

Re: Lumsdonia R&D Dept Workbench

This has probably been the longest running development I have done! I have never been happy with the clunky Market stalls available off the shelf and wanted to create some that were more to scale. After dozens of test prints to get the balance between strength and fineness, I cracked it. The other e...

Re: Lumsdonia R&D Dept Workbench

As you may be aware, I do 3D printing, so I thought I would have a go at designing and printing 3D Tree Armatures! I have tried many times to make them with the bent wire technique, but with little success (never look right). They take 15 hours to print, so may not be commercially viable, but it giv...

Re: Lumsdonia

I have tried many times to make trees with the bundle of wires technique, but they always look naff! I have a box full of failed attempts. Designing in 3D seemed an obvious cheat method, but I have similar problems getting the number of branches, spread, splits and density right. Plus it takes forev...

Re: Lumsdonia

I had a go at designing and 3D printing Tree Armatures, 13CM tall they work well. I am not sure they are commercially viable, as they take 15 hours to print, but for me to print, they will make a great forest!

Re: Airbrush Recommendations. How good is yours?

The only issue with tap water is if it is very hard, the minerals in it may cause scale deposits (after many years of 24 hour use!). So realistically, any water will do. {de-ionised and distilled water should not have any minerals in them}. I use tap water with no problems.
