Kato Unitrack connecting to NCE Power Cab?

Ok so have the M2 starter set having decided to try the modular route to begin with in N Gauge. Obviously the set included the Kato controller and works as expected with DC control. Enter the new arrival, NCE Power Cab. Now I need to interface this instead of Kato's own DC controller. Anyone advise ...

Re: BR Blue/era 7 loco advice.

Thanks for replies fellas. I wasn't sure if there was a scarcity of DCC-ready locos meeting my criteria. This is the route I have chosen, I intend new locos and all DCC-ready. I know eventually I might want to diversify - after all the current selection is limited (why no DCC-ready shunters?) Of cou...

Re: BR Blue/era 7 loco advice.

Hi Paddy The 24 is superb.... my personal favourite N scale loco and runs beautifully. The forthcoming Blue 47 and 20 will no doubt be very good but avoid the previous batches of the blue 47 due to an overly wide bogie/body gap. other very good Farish models for your Blue period would be: 108 DMU c...

Re: BR Blue/era 7 loco advice.

The 40, 50 and 55 aren't DCC ready yet and are all old ex-Poole toolings so are about 20 years out of date in terms of detail. The class 24, 37 and 47 are highly recommended, I found with my 47s that some cleaning was needed inside the chassis where packing grease could get into the pickup contacts...

Re: Are the Hornby Select and Elite seen as "toy" controllers?

A little more food for thought for you form someone in a similar quandry. I also have a Select going spare but it will remain as a spare. The option, for me, was between the Dynamis and the PowerCab. I did some asking, and read the excellent DCC Concepts site, then went to my local N Gauge group. As...

Re: NCE PowerPro & Hornby decoders

Hi mate- in my research, consensus would be they are the decoders to avoid. Many others available, all at differing cost, but they were the ones to avoid

Re: BR Blue/era 7 loco advice.

Not sure of the relevance of layout size or region etc. I'm looking at locos to run DCC N Gauge - as I am interested in (Bachmann) Era 7, specifically, BR Blue, am curious as to how those particular models run and/or perform. Remember I'm new to this and as such open to suggestions of which ocos igh...

BR Blue/era 7 loco advice.

Any pointers regarding these N scale models, as I am going to model the above, are there any particular models better suited than others? - any potential problems I may encounter? Before I purchase anything, the plan is to write a list (this is part of my research). Alternatively, can anyone point m...

Re: NCE Power Cab v?

Thanks again. It would appear that not all shops are included in searches and Google Shopping. Visit my local model railway group for the first time this weekend. Hopefully I will have a few more leads and ideas.

Re: NCE Power Cab v?

While I'm on a couple of more questions please. What exactly can be achieved by computer control? - I have a couple of spare/redundant laptops which could be re-born for this purpose? Secondly, apparently, the NCE Power Cab can read CV values and the Dynamis cannot. can anyone clarify what exactly t...

Re: CV's and their interpretation?

Thanks Bigmet! I have even more to learn than I first suspected! - I think my next plan of action will be one loco, one DCC controller and one bit of test track before even contemplating the rest! If ever there was a case of walk before you run! Just to re-iterrate, Flashbang, I don't intend running...

Re: CV's and their interpretation?

Thanks both. :D

Quick question. Can the Power Cab run a DC loco using adress 00? - just trying to find the differences.
