Re: Hornby R1233 The Coca-Cola Christmas Train Set 2019

Coca Cola you must be joking they could have sold heaps of these things with a good name on the loco and wagons, maybe "Strongbow" or "Carlsburg" would have done the trick.

Re: what do you hope to achieve from your model railway?

Buelligan, your railway doesn't have to be detailed for you to gain satisfaction from it. All I'm aiming for is to create an impression. That is enough for me. I do like to see the amazing layouts of others and I take my hat off to their creators. It's great to be able to spend time with your son m...

Re: Union pacific

Is it easy to replace the couplers with micro trains couplers on all trains and wagons Very easy on locomotives just a matter if inserting a small screw through the coupler, not so easy on freight wagons and coaches because unlike many British models American wagons have four wheel trucks/bogies wh...

Re: Union pacific

American N Scale modellers dumped the old Rapido couplers years ago so any loco fitted with them is also pretty old, all New US N gauge locomotives these days are fitted with Micro Trains knuckle couplers or similar but some brands also include a little bag that includes Rapidos, I have modelled US ...

Why not try teasing out pieces of steel wool scourer and spray painting it to your desired colour or better still sprinkle it with scatter.

Re: Union pacific

One only has to watch Youtube American Railroad videos to see that US railways carry anything between oranges and Boeing jet jet plane sections, the vast majority of US freight trains are mixed consists.

Re: JAMES MAY'S BIG TROUBLE IN MODEL BRITAIN 06/03/19

I hope the hobby does keep going as it is today and maybe I take a pessimistic view of everything these days, I have seen so many weired changes during my 75 years on this planet that nothing would surprise me, I think eventually preserved steam and diesel locomotives will be relegated to indoor mus...

[quote="flying scotsman123 Ah that point of view has been held and consistently proven wrong for at least the last 50 years! ;)[/quote] Ah but up until a few years ago we never had mobile phones, tablets, X Boxes, Playstations and computers to spend hours gazing into, just give it time

Re: JAMES MAY'S BIG TROUBLE IN MODEL BRITAIN 06/03/19

Quite a bit of talk about Hornbys toy like past but I myself have some of my fondest memories running Triang Hornby model trains, we may have all bells and whistles models these days but when us old geezers have moved onto the big railway in sky it will most likely be bye bye model train hobby, far ...
