Re: Lubrication

I have a mate that swears by WD40, yes I know some say not to use it but this guy has been into model railways since he was 6 years old, he is now 63 and has been using WD40 since the 1960s not only does he lubricate his locos with the stuff he also cleans the track on his massive layout with WD40, ...

Re: UK or Bust 2020

You could head straight for Birmingham the "Centre of the Universe" then take train trips North, East, South and West, maybe Wales and the nearby Counties, time it right a visit to the Warley Train Show might be a highlight to that part of the UK, some of the best Preserved Railways in the...

Re: Wanton Vandalism of layouts

Not sure if this hs been posted before but I found this video of the damage done to the model railways at the hall.

Hard to believe that people could do so much damage they must have been filled with hate.

Re: Wanton Vandalism of layouts

Flashbang Wrote Unfortunately press coverage and such coverage on public areas can probably only make matters worse in the future for all events! How true, here in Australia when the warmer weather arrives the TV news lets us all know that the Bush Fire season is about to start, you can bet your lif...

Re: Where we came from...

Like so many others I started with a three rail Dublo Train Set back in 1956, since then I have built Japanese, British and American N Gauge layouts, Aussie and American HO Scale and British OO Gauge layouts, I don't consider myself to be a very good modeller but I have a great time being involved i...

Re: Big Delivery

Better than what I got the other day, I was waiting for a parcel to be delivered by Australia Post when I heard a rather loud bang at my front door, I opened the door to find that the postman had chucked the parcel onto my concrete doorstep and bolted, the parcel was a plastic bag inside was a loco ...

Re: Avoid this eBay trader!!!!

Pretty hard to get someone black listed when their record is 1377 sales with 99.4% feedback, I have dealt with eBay sellers with feedback as low as 97,3% and had perfect transactions.

Re: Price of a Hobby

I think the important thing about the cost of our hobby is to buy within your means, I am not in a position to splash out loads of money on the hobby anymore so I buy as wise as I can, my latest layout is a 10ft x 5ft American Desert layout called Rattlesnake Valley I needed to keep the cost down so...

I judge these destructive little critters by the standards of my own children of which I had the pleasure of being a Father to Five Boys and Five Girls, my kids were not angels and thankfully they have all grown up to be responsible adults, they have given my Wife and I a total of 18 Grandchildren a...

Re: Price of a Hobby

All of a sudden Aussie retailers have decided to rob people even more than they did before, example last week Acrylic Paint in a tube was $2 today it was $3.50, Paint Brushes were $2 also same brush set today $3.50, I wont even go into the cost of model railway stuff on the main street shops (if you...

Re: Wanton Vandalism of layouts

No pity from me for the parents, its a parental obligation to show children right from wrong something his parents failed at miserably yes  I wasn't a saint when I was a kid but there is no way I or any normal child would go and smash a load of model railway layouts to pieces, to be honest ...

Re: Price of a Hobby

Model railways are only as expensive as you make it, I agree with Dad1 the Hornby DCC starter sets are a fine introduction into the hobby. My best mate spends all his spare money on Booze and fags and at $50au for a packet of roll your own tobacco that is what I call an expensive hobby, his and my n...
