Kings Cross Steam Extravaganza

Hi all, Just put a post in to tell members about the Kings cross steam extravaganza which is taking place next weekend on the 11th and 12th of October. Featuring steam powered veichles, a ride on minature railway, pump trolley rides and a model exhibition in the former great northern goods shed with...

Re: Offered for sale

I congratulate you for handling the situation so sensibly and controlled as I would have bit his arm off for that box not thinking about its source :?

A better view of the coaches. Not as badly damaged as first thought:

Re: Great Central Collision

We will wait for further news. Thought it may cause panic if someone saw a mess of coaches at Loughborough. My main aim was to say no one was hurt for members who may know people who volunteer there who will be concerned for their welfare. Update: The run away train was a class 37 and the heritage T...

Re: Great Central Crash

I know no further details than what I posted, apparently the TPOs were badly smashed up. It surprised me at the distance also. My source was some high ranking members of the Nene Valley Railway who I was just speaking to as I volunteer there. One of them is an expert on TPO's and is closely involved...

Great Central Crash

I am giving out some inside information as the news has not been put on the news yet. The great central railway just had a run away train which has travelled to loughbourgh from quorn and has smashed into the TPO coaches. I have no other details except that no one was hurt as no one was on the train...

I've converted a few and my mind is at rest that they are fairly prototypical,

Re: Ex-LNER teak conversion

Thanks bigmet and stevie, looks like I will have to break out the transfers. I may even repaint some of them to extend their operating limit to about the late 1960's in maroon.

Ex-LNER teak conversion

I have a couple of old Hornby teak coaches (now in the railroad range) all with LNER lettering. I recently found out that British railways in their early years ran these coaches in their teak livery as ex-LNER coaches. As my layout is set in the 1950s this is a good opportunity to run these teaks pr...

I have seen yours before Jim but I prefer the format of the one I posted. I suppose I'm just used to it more.

Rail tour list

Most of you will probably know of this website but for those who don't this website is a comprehensive list of railtours in Britain covering all companies. It does not post timings but that is easily found out on the associated company's website. It displays the station stops, locomotive/s and the n...

What made me laugh was the little 'Bollywood' style song about the trains with all the cast dancing.

Re: New bi-weekly magazine with OO models steam loco's.

... even if needing to put a couple of things back on it is still good value ( price of a magazine 3 quid so in reality about 6 quid ... If you're alluding to the mag that comes with the loco, then let's be honest - most of those on this forum will learn very little from it and wouldnt ordinarily f...

Rocket was indeed on the list. I am not a fan of that sort of loco so I will skip that issue.

Re: Trainspotting - Back Then

Nowadays though, us youngsters are held back by barbed wire and CCTV. There are very few lineside personel so you can't get to know any as they keep chopping and changing. The days of regular loco hauled trains have gone from the mainline most modern electric locomotives have no 'character' or 'pers...
