We once went to the New Forest exhibition, at her request, where she went away and made a load of N scale bunting for the local club before coming back the next day ...

An advantage of laying track and having a prelonged period of, ahem, testing, before rushing to ballast. Better to discover any shortcomings now rather than later. Who wants to be beating deceased equines after all.

Neat and quite handy too once you go above a certain number of locos on the layout at one time. I've thought about this but never realised how simple it would be.
