Potential new layout

I have a "spare" 4ftx1ft modular baseboard that I had stuck some polystyrene to and made a bit of a slope on and then put it away again  Recently dismantled a previous layout and am looking to re-use some of it on here, just plopped some bits down at the moment to get a bit of a f...

Re: Peco Track still in Short Supply

After a short closedown due to Covid Peco restarted production in mid April. I've had oo gauge points on order with my retailer since June and still no delivery date. However a call to Peco shows they have all I want and if I cancel my model shop order and buy direct -at full market price - I can h...

Re: What would you do in this area

As others have suggested why not a hill/slope towards the back corner and have a short section of canal at the base of it with the tow path along the retaining wall?
Maybe have it at a 45deg angle or a curved section rather than just straight on?

Re: Crazy Prices

I agree about the cost of these buildings but what also confuses me is the disparity in pricing with some similarly sized buildings being different in price at times. As/when I buy any I try and get them when they are reduced in price even if only by a few £s. The other thing is they always go down ...

Re: New build at last

If you are using the points to carry power to the switched sections it might be that they are no making reliable contact all the time when they are switched. I see you are using DC, however might I suggest you work it the other way, connect it up as if it were DCC then put switches in to isolate cer...

Re: Lachute's small layout

Can I point something out here please?
The points are Peco, these are 2nd radius so do they line up correctly with the Hornby R605 curves which are 1st radius?

Re: Big switching layout

Thank you very much for your input smeghead28. But I already built a roundy round layout: Lachute's small layout I think I'm going to rebuild it with a second siding... Yeah I knew that but my suggestion was to add a bit more interest to it with some sidings and to put a backscence across it...

Re: Big switching layout

Having built end to end layouts for the last few years they are an acquired taste especially if you don't want to follow any "rules" However, I have recently been building a basic 4x4 oval as I want to actually run the trains rather than just go backwards and forwards, with DCC sound the l...

Looking for some wagon advice.

Locos I have so far, or to be delivered, are Colas class 37521, DRS class 68026 and DRS class 37609 I am looking for some typical wagons for these, I have a set of Accurascale PFA - DRS LLNW - Nuclear Half Height Container to come in a few days that would be okay with both DRS locos, I have also pre...

Re: Modern image 6ft x 20 inch depot kinda layout :)

Ordered a 12v 2amp power supply that I was hoping would be man enough to switch the points as well as power the one signal. All the points work fine except the one with the signal associated with it, there is a PL-13 switch mounted to the point motor to switch the signal but the extra "drag&quo...

Re: Deadend Lane, a micro 00 gauge layout

Lights MK2 :D They help take the edge off the bufferstop LEDs if nothing else. Had three altogether but feels like that would have been too many so just went with the two, same as with the previous lights. https://thumbs2.imagebam.com/59/8d/e1/2c2d521348462085.jpg https://thumbs2.imagebam.com/97/e5/...

Re: Deadend Lane, a micro 00 gauge layout

Need to replace the lights I had already fitted, they started behaving a bid odd and were flickering and a lot dimmer than they were to begin with. Not really sure why as they were supposed to be usable on either AC or DC and a wide range of voltages, perhaps wiring them into the DCC bus wasn't the ...

Re: Modern image 6ft x 20 inch depot kinda layout :)

It looks quite atmospheric with the building lights on. Often you see model buildings with every light in the house turned on! Yours is much more realistic with just one or two rooms lit up. A couple of streetlamps would add some more nighttime ambience- there's a guide somewhere to making your own...

Re: Modern image 6ft x 20 inch depot kinda layout :)

Few milestones today, Dapol class 68 with sound turned up and I made a bit more progress on lighting a few of the buildings in the town. Will finish the wiring another day when it isn't quite so dam hot  https://thumbs2.imagebam.com/ad/a9/77/54d8681348002146.jpg https://thumbs2.imagebam.com...

Re: Modern image 6ft x 20 inch depot kinda layout :)

Ordered a load of the Woodland Scenics lighting stuff. Put the 3 lights in the depot area, got some nano lights that will light 3 buildings in the town area as well as a few others. The wires on the lamposts are so dam fiddly and you can barely see them :D They connect into an adapter that then allo...
