Re: Modern image 6ft x 20 inch depot kinda layout :)

Progressing slowly with the ballasting, starting to get the bare board covered over. Done another hard standing area to reduce the amount of ballasting required a little bit :) https://t11.pixhost.org/thumbs/167/46877789_20170713_170453.jpg https://t11.pixhost.org/thumbs/167/46877792_20170713_170500....

Re: Modern image 6ft x 20 inch depot kinda layout :)

Very slow progress but used some MDF i had left over to create an area of hard standing. Needs a bit of weathering and deciding what i want to put on it :) Dummy point motors also in place now need the conduit and lineside boxes to make it look a bit more purposeful. https://t11.pixhost.org/thumbs/7...

Re: Modern image 6ft x 20 inch depot kinda layout :)

Not much to update with :) Dismantled my previous layout and recycled some of the buildings to this one,the fuelling point as well as the industrial unit. Added a couple more bits of clutter as well as a row of gritting bins along the fence. The ground signal will work and will be switched in conjun...

Modern image 6ft x 20 inch depot kinda layout :)

No name or specific theme but will be mostly DRS purely because I like the livery, may well also feature some Colas stuff based on the same criteria ;) Roughly 6ft x 20 inches, tradk is pretty much Peco set track with the exception of the points on the main board which are Streamline, set track points...

It is a little extreme ;)
Mine goes up 4 inches over 8ft and that is considered steep!

Re: Spreading flocks and scatters

Buy something like this http://www.hattons.co.uk/37696/Woodland_Scenics_LK954_Landscaping_Kit/StockDetail.aspx It is surprising how you can get pretty good results quite easily and once you see what materials are included and how to use them you can buy more of them individually. I am no "exper...

Re: TTS and points!

I have used Hornby and Peco "set track" points and much prefer the Peco version compared to the Hornby. My Bachmann class 37 was having problems with Hornby points, the insulated frog section was causing the lead bogie to "lift" as it went through the frog section and it kept de-r...

Most of the lights wired up,only one more to go but need thinner wire than what I have at the moment. http://thumbnails117.imagebam.com/53965/3be75b539648970.jpg http://thumbnails117.imagebam.com/53965/69e437539648972.jpg http://thumbnails117.imagebam.com/53965/66de98539648973.jpg

Re: No name 00 gauge layout

Clever! VERY Clever!. :) I might need to yoink that idea. Thanks End2end The oil drum you can see at the front, along with a couple of pallets at the back where you cant see, provide a couple of "alignment" points so when I set the building down I know the contact points will al...

Re: Inclines & powerbase

I used the Woodland scenics risers for my layout.
I used the 4% version but there is a shallower 2% one if you have the room to accommodate it.

Re: Small radius

Just to add my 2ps worth :) The Bachmann 37 I bought last week doesn't really like the 1st radius curve that makes up part of the incline on my layout. It gets round, just, but it slows dramatically as it does. I think from my point of view part of the problem is the incline being on a 1st radius curv...
