Incase you're wondering what the difference is, the Black 5 was built by the LMS and the Standard 5 was an 'improved' Black 5 (and other locos such as the LNER Thompson B1) built by BR

If you do have space for a tender one, there are 4 very good ones that come to mind straight away; Bachmann c class, Bachmann 3f (different to the Jinty) Bachmann 4f and Bachmann J11, coming out soon (hopefully :D )

t does mean tank engine. Bachmanns Pannier and Jinty come to mind.

I quite like the idea of doing a preserved railway where there was a scrapyard like barry in the eastern region so I can include ex-er and ex-mr locos

My layout completely fitted onto a 4x2 foot board, including fiddle yard, but I have since extended the fiddle yard with a removable board. Don't forget modern cars, you can get them from Cararama and Oxford diecast. Try and find some figures of people photographing and filming and kids. Old stock lined up waiting to be restored, you can get locos from Dapol for this.

You can pick up bargains, I picked up a Black 5 for £50 including post and packaging. A Jinty, 3f, 4f etc. would all be suitable for the space
