Re: Hattons Announces 4 and 6 wheel coaches

The price per coach is less then I would have thought, but so many attractive liveries that it's going to be hard to narrow the wish list down to something manageable  The announcement today with such a long lead time sounds like they are 'staking their claim' and trying to scare off others who...

Re: The Great Model Railway Challenge

That is with recording it, I watch it once with the kids so they can see what people do and how you can make a layout look, then I watch again with my wife who sits quietly until I try watching something, then doesn't stop talking. I can't face watching a 3rd time! I fell asleep halfway through the...

Re: Help identifying locos and stock

Thank you all for your replies, it has been an interesting task. After a bit of cleaning and a bit of oil last night both of the locos run with the tender loco lights even still work! I have taken videos for him to keep but he's looking at selling them on, I have directed him to eBay with some rough...

Hey guys, I am hoping someone will be able to help, a friends from work has been clearing out his loft and found his train set from when he was younger. They had asked if I could take a look and give an idea on value, I said sure expecting something Tri-ang or Hornby I would be able to identify and ...

Re: DCC Problems

You can reset a loco decoder usually by CV8 entering a value of 8 this returns the decoder back to its as manufactured setting including address number to 3. However, while most decoders are reset via CV8/8 it is well worth double checking the specific decoders manual as some use a differing reset ...

The 'chaos' that nearly derailed Hornby https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-48716918 Sorry for formatting, I am on my phone I had to post as this quote made my laugh: "A Harry Potter train set? How does that fit in my layout of Torquay in the 1960s? They can't relate to that," Mr Davies sa...

Re: Wanton Vandalism of layouts

This is such sad news, I really hope they treat this with the seriousness it deserves & don’t just dismiss it as ‘toys’ the amount of time that goes into the layouts is such a large part of the value. With the value of items ‘on site’ I had always assumed they had someone keeping an eye on thing...

Re: Dj models announcement

Wow, i am surprised the IP has been granted but highly doubt it will stop other manufacturers from making a competing scale model of a historical item - DJ cant have rights over the loco design, if anyone would it would be the original designer of the actual prototype (or whatever company owns it no...

Re: Model railway insurance?

its an interesting question, obviously home insurance wouldn't cover it outside of the house but has anyone ever had to claim on home insurance for railway items?

Its one of the reasons i moved into the loft from the shed as our insurance has a limit to value of items in the shed

Re: what do you hope to achieve from your model railway?

essentially something i am happy with  i am not bothered by 'historical accuracy' or making it super realistic my aim is just something that looks good to me. I went to a local show at the weekend and one of the layouts really stood out for me, not because it was super detailed but because it w...

I have removed the other thread asking the same question in another section of the forum - please don’t post the same question multiple times as long as you post under the heading that best fits the question users tend to be able to find it and answer OK.
