Re: Article - Coupling

Couplings - the bane of railway modellers everywhere.
I reckon, if they actually work, (like kadee), they are extremely fiddly to add to stock, as there isn't/wasn't a standard fitting, until N.E.M. - trouble is, most/all the stock I buy doesn't come with them. :(

I have an Ixion, & it is very controllable; also have some old Atlas 6w diesels which run well.

Re: Where to begin? - A Garden Railway

Easiest/cheapest is G scale Bachmann. I would suggest trackwork outdoors to be brass rather than steel/alloy; it will cost more, but you probably won't be buying pointwork, as watching trains run is what garden railways are about.

Re: Bachmann class 03.......

Recently purchased a Gauge 1 Bachmann Brassworks Class 04 in blue, & it looks great to me, so much so that I will have to create a shunting micro for it. :D

Re: 0 - Coarse or Fine?

Easiest/cheapest way into '0' gauge is an Ixion Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 st (£225) & Skytrex (bargain offer) wagons (£30). Shunting Micro, using a sector plate or traverser (no points), or just one point & a bit of pivotted track/sector plate. (Approx. size would be in the region of 5ft x 1ft 3...

Re: Newbie question about diesel locos hauling coaches

There used to be a service in Wales that ran a Cl 37 & 3 mk1/11 coaches, it pulled them one way & then propelled them back. (In the 70's, I think.)

Re: If money and space where no object? (that makes more sen

Probably go up a scale, (eyes not as good as they were), so a nice gauge 1 indoor radio controlled branchline that I could sit back & enjoy watching the trains go by.

Kernow Model Rail Centre

As in my other post, I am a returnee, having chosen 'O' gauge 7mm because of the Ixion 0-6-0 ST.

My first order from Kernow arrived promptly enough, but it contained re priced old stock, one item from £86.90 to £95.30.

(Make of that what you will, but, I think I shall buy from elsewhere.)
