Re: Bolsover Castle N Gauge Layout.

I like the prices at the petrol station. The last time I paid 70p/litre was in 1999 :D

Re: possibly change of mind

It depends what you want from the layout? If you like to watch trains going around then the first plan enables two trains to go round independently of each other. The second plan is more restrictive because of the design of the centre track. A train can only enter the centre track without reversing ...

Re: My N Gauge Layout

I didn't realise it was so long since I last posted on here. Last year I sold the layout due to a lack of space. Since building it I had it running on maybe five occasions. The main problem was the weight which meant it was too much hassle setting it up every time I wanted to use it. I really need a...

Re: Feedback On Plan - To Use a Double Slip or not?!

Instead of the two original layout designs why not use this design which incorporates a double slip and gives you the maximum length possible on both sidings. I know it means the slip is on the mainline but here's a case of the slip actually doing something useful which is what they are intended for...

Great stuff. btw you need to give mmurnin900 a big thankyou for promoting your thread  http://www.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=8273 I would buy that if I had the room, it must have taken ages to build. The irony is I did link this thread in lmsrails thread  If anyone ...

I must admit that rusting the rails is something I wished I did on my layout as it does make the tracks look more real but I thought the task would be a bit daunting. I found the ballasting hard enough.

Thanks everyone for your supportive comments. I know the track plan is rather plain but I never expected this amount of interest. I thought a simple oval with a passing loop would have resulted in many people slagging it off as junk. Love the bridge i have not seen this thread before what make is th...

What I did with the fields was to cover half a field with diluted PVA and sprinkle some of my premixed scatter over the glue. I then did the same to the other half of the field. Doing it in halves avoids the glue drying before I've finished applying the scatter. When a field is finished I leave it o...

Wow! That looks brilliant. What scatter did you use to get the grass effect? Thanks. I use various Woodland Scenics mixed together to create composite colours. I use slightly different mixes for each field so they are all a slightly different colour. The other advantage of mixing two colours togeth...

Has it really been over six months since I last posted on this site?

Here's what I've done since then. Well not much actually apart from getting some of the fields done near the level crossing.

looking really good. Looks realistic, just needs the finishing touches Have you airbrushed out behind the layout or is that the colour of your walls. Thanks for all your comments, I'm glad that you all appreciate the time and effort I've put into it. Yes, I have airbrushed the picture because there...

It's been a while since I started this thread so here's some more pictures showing the progress so far. As I had already finished the construction stage when I posted the first set of pictures all I've done since then is the scenery which seems to have taken longer than all the rest of the work put ...
