Millsend - great layout and I will steal Jim's ideas with glee (I'm sorry - to translate into Dilbert speak for those who need it - I will "Share Best Practices")

Re: Bachmann Class 37 what are the better ones?

Apologies for the formatting, but this is what I think are the ones lifted from the Bachmann listing. I have the last two, which I think are pretty good and have lights factory fitted. I have fitted lights to 32-778 with lights from Express models - fiddly but it works. All are DDC ready and mine no...

I am a fan of the brass dowels - as used here.

Re: Baseboard material !!

Another vote for AnyRail from me - great for designing and then printing out at full size. What I like with AnyRail (that I hadn't thought of) is that it shows that what you think can fit with reasonable radius curves.........you actually can't..........and that's best to find out on your computer s...

Re: Baseboard material !!

I'd agree with bufferstop on 6 mm. I use a kind of monocoque structure - for weight/portability - so maybe not what you're after. But here if you're interested.

I continue to be inspired by this - great stuff and keep it coming.
One day - one day - mine will be as good as this - or if it isn't, I will keep going until it is!

Re: Advice regarding base board legs

I build legs like this: http://www.modelrailforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24042&view=findpost&p=273479 and then connect them to the baseboard via some bolts that stick 20 mm out of the bottom of the baseboard into corresponding holes on the tops of the legs for alignment and then via ...

Re: Digitrains Lincoln

I live in Holland so have only managed to get to the shop once but I buy my DDC chips and speakers from them by air mail. Quick service and good responses to my (often slightly dull as I'm new to it all) queries.
So thumbs up from me also.

Re: Effect of the internet on our hobby

I'm massively positive (and I'm well above 35). I'm probably repeating what's been said, but for me, the main things are stuff, advice and sharing. I can find things I need very easily (that maybe I could have tracked down in the small adds of Railway Modeller if I was lucky previously) like lights ...

Re: Anyrail software help please !

Different strokes for different folks but I'm a huge fan of AnyRail. I'm building a modular layout , which is dead easy to put up and take down - though is more effort to build! But I suspect I will be moving house in a reasonable time frame, so what I do now can travel with me, rather than be limit...

Re: my head hurts...

Sc0tty,
Not saying it's THE answer, but I am making a layout using 6 mm ply as the main board, with a few different sizes of ply to make a box. It's also modular. Might be a food for thought.........or not.
