Re: Dapol Railbus Motorisation

Get yourself a Peco or a Hornby track cleaning rubber. :) (That is if you don't have, or have not thought about this already). I did consider this, but I doubt that it would touch the coating on these wheels. I don't think it's actually tarnish, as it is only on the part of the wheels in contact wi...

Re: Dapol Railbus Motorisation

skyblue !! A long time since we last heard from you. Never knew how Uni went, but it was essential you concentrated on that. It was through you I started making wagon kits ….. Now made well over 100. Geoff T. University went well, I continued to do a PhD afterwards. Unfortunately the current situat...

Re: Dapol Railbus Motorisation

Thanks Mountain , it's taking some getting used to building things again, but I'm enjoying it. I've attacked the wheels with a fine file as Bufferstop suggested and removed a layer of tarnish which coated them, and I am now able to get the motor to run (intermittently) by applying power direct to th...

Re: Dapol Railbus Motorisation

They do have a glossy finish, I'll try giving them a bit of a sand/file and see if that helps. Thanks!

Dapol Railbus Motorisation

(Old member making a reappearance after about 5 years!) With the lockdown causing a rather longer than planned visit to my parents' I thought I would get back into model railways alongside working from home. I've made a start on a Dapol Railbus and I'm using this drive kit I found on Ebay to motoris...

I believe Hornby released their new DVT in those colours a while back.

The signal box looks excellent and I'm sure your weathering will improve it even more.

Re: Dad-1 Workbench - West Bay Wagon Works

I don't really understand where these rumors of the Hornby GWR horsebox coming from the Lima model come from. When the Hornby model was released it was made quite clear that it was all new and having an example of the new model I can say that the detail is far superior to the Lima model. Anyway Geof...

Re: East Cheltwell

This layout is superb - I really like the rutted track with the Land Rover in particular. And the wood effect on the lineside hut is great too - is it actual wood?

Re: My (N gauge) table football layout!

This layout just goes from strength to strength. I really like the slope on that tunnel roof - the whole thing looks very effective. I still can't get over the fact that this is only built on a table football table.

Re: Hornby HM2000 or something else?

I have a HM2000. I quite like it - it's very simple but seems to work well for what I want. It did at one point break (loose connection inside) and it can only be repaired by Hornby because the screws require a special screwdriver to open. It took Hornby 3 months to repair it but since then it has b...

As requested, a black Mogul. This one is minus its tender and is sitting in a scrapyard.
