Re: Hornby Super Detail Patroit/Royal Scot body/buffer beam

You could try the cast brass replacement one Peters Spares make for the Airfix Scot, I used one to fix a Bachmann one.

Re: Hornby 2018 Range

Well my first loco of the year purchased this weekend, a Terrier, is going back for exchange as its got a motor which emits a ghastly screeeching sound at anything over 1/3rd power input.Thats while I wait for Hornby to do something about the gripless 14XX I bought at Warley. Ho hum.

Re: Hornby 2018 Announcements

Couple o nice little and useful things, a pack of 4 3 link couplings,I've always thought that Hornbys are the best and the strongest, and a conrod nut spanner, always handy.

Re: Mainline Royal Scots Fusilier spares

Peters Spares make their own replacement buffer beams for the Airfix Royal Scot, I've used the front one to replace a busted one on a Bachmann version, bit of careful filing and it looked spot on.

I had a reply from Hornby that they are awaiting replacement traction tyres, I presume a little thicker.

Re: Hornby Railroad 14XX

I added a sliver of plastic strip as padding beneath the axle either side glued to the under frame to stop the axle moving up and down.In retrospect the rear axlebox would have been the one to do but I wanted to increase the weight bias forward by dropping the front axle, it's worked but was a lot m...

Re: Hornby Railroad 14XX

Fixed it. Filed a knats do dah off the front axle box, runs good as gold now. Right fiddly booger to strip down though, had to replace Hornby's fragile wiring and only just holding solder with something a bit more substantial.Interestingly the drive axle slot is rounded and the two outer ones square.

Re: Hornby Railroad 14XX

Got my Warley special today and yes it has " the problem".It will pull 3 staniers but takes only the lightest touch from the hand of god to stop it dead, and it wheelspins really easily on abrupt power application. Shame as it's a really nice model for the money. Solutions are, from Hornby...

Re: class T9 chassis rot

It could be that at the factory they have been overtightened causing them to break, it may be worth buying a replacement bracket, they are cheap enough, and seeing if careful fitting does the job.
