Re: Could anyone recommend a good guide to Garden Railways?

I've only found 3 publications on garden railways that recommend O, OO/H0 outside, They all have their good and bad points. Don Neale's Railway in the garden 1978 a Peco Publication (now out of print) Written by Don himself in a humorous style it mainly concerns itself with coarse scale O gauge. The...

Re: Temperature Allowances For "OO" Outdoors...

I live in Australia and we are known for very hot summers with temperatures often over 40 degrees. On my 00 gauge line I have hinged covers painted white and on a 47 degree day I lifted one cover to see how hot the track was. Whilst I was roasting the track was only warm. The other reason I have hin...

Re: SMP Pointwork and track.

Hi all, I have very little room inside to build a layout, so I'm thinking of venturing outside, quick question regarding track work, I've seen a few of you use SMP track, which looks excellent, however, I noticed it's nickel silver so it should be okay, but would you really recommend using it outsi...

I'm currently erecting platforms at Faulconwood station. Also here's a link to a you tube video I uploaded at 4am.

Re: Hornby HST

I think it would be ok as long as there are no pick ups on the dummy HST power car for lights. If there are they would most likely blow.

Re: OO In The Garden.

Your right about the no permission bit Metadyneman as I also only had to ask myself for permission to have a garden railway. The answer was an unequivocal YES. :D

The Faulconwood and Springbridge Railway

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAPmoLgTWfM Hello to one and all. I'm currently rebuilding my OO/HO high level main line garden railway and have completed around 80% of the rebuild which allows me to run end to end trains at the moment. I have some rather amateur videos on you tube and here's a link...

Re: The Perverse Pleasure of a Good Thrashing.

I altered my Hornby sound HST CV settings to the maximum and ran it at speed step 126 with the power car both pushing and pulling and yes it did fill me with a strange delight. Had it derailed it wouldn't have filled me with delight as operating it on a high garden railway would mean a deathly plung...
