Re: FGW Coaches
Its cheaper to paint it all one colour. The power cars are now all blue except the yellow panel at the front. Much different than the "barbie" livery.

Many of the RR HST parts, like motor bogies , bogie frames and underframes were available from East Kent Models and Abbiegails. But no service sheet has yet been published.

Swap the two end cars around - the unit really does need to be assembled with the correct vehicles in the correct places. Having had the same problem as the OP when I first got mine, I painted numbers under the frames for future reference. I did try swapping the two end cars around , but it did not...

Re: Question About Hornby Clas 43 (New Models)
Yes I have noticed this. You have the HST's in various liveries but no coaches to go with them! The reason why, is that Hornby only have so much capacity in the Kadar factory. With all the various models and their requirements , means that it cannot be planned to produce power cars and a full set o...

Re: Question About Hornby Clas 43 (New Models)
The problem with Hornby HST's is that the power cars are not produced in a close time frame to the coaches . So you have got to be patient and keep looking out for them. With the FGW current "dynamic lines livery", you will have problem. They have just not made enough of them and they are ...

The easiest way to stop any anaerobic adhesive getting into the phosphor bronze bearing is to put some oil onto the bearing as soon as the pinion gear is located in position. This will act as a barrier to the adhesive. The best anaerobic engineering adhesive to use is a Loctite thread or stud lock.....

Branchlines
Branchlines was a very active retail outlet until Andrew McMullens from Exeter sold it to someone in Westbury in 2008. Does anyone know if they are still trading ? As their website appears to be as it was in 2008.

Re: Help with upgrading early hornby diesels/electrics.
Hornby have recently released the class 90 with a non ringfield chassis. These are R3077, R3053 and R 3053A. These are of the same design as the ex Lima diesel loco's that they have released . It is my belief that that are doing away with the ringfield drive as it is cheaper to use a motor which is ...

I am assuming that this is a super detail loco drive model. If it has done a lot of running, then wear could be present on the first gear bearings. The bearings are actually the mazac chassis. I have had a load of trouble with super detail loco drives and the poor material which supports the gear sh...

Don't forget that there is also locomotive, Lee Moor No2. Which is housed in its own shed on site at Buckfastleigh. This used to haul china clay wagons along the upper section of the Lee Moor tramway on the southern slopes of Dartmoor. Dartmoor tramways had a unique gauge of 4feet 6 inches, known lo...

Re: Antics Worcester,closing?
The Worcester Antics shop will be closing in May or June. Not the whole chain of shops. The reason is that they share the premises and rent for the building. The other shop, which is a photographic one has ceased trading and Antics cannot afford the whole rent. So its closing.

Re: Peter's Spares- Wortha a look
I did inform them of the problem . In fact I sent a very detailed letter advising them of the poor quality of the gears. They just gave me my money back and they are still selling the oversize hole gears . If you use these with power on you will damage the other gears in the motor. Thus negating the...

Re: Peter's Spares- Wortha a look
I bought some ringfield gears from Peters spares. These were quoted as being good used. When I tried to fit them to the Hornby ringfield motor, they were as a good a fit as you do not want to see. The centre hole varied from 1mm to 3mm oversize. So beware of used parts from them.
