Re: Exeter St Davids OO

Thanks for the comments. I shall have to get the airbrush out again one day. The new shed needs painting and there's lots of weathering to do.

Re: Exeter St Davids OO

Today I have been continuing with the tree backscene on Cowley Bridge Road. I think it's working pretty well. You can see the difference with and without it in this picture.

Re: Exeter St Davids OO

Then on to the second shed. This one was a mix of foamboard and card for the base and plasticard for the rest.

Re: Exeter St Davids OO

I used ply and balsa wood for the construction of this one as I thought it would be easier to work with and stronger then wrapped using scalescenes papers. Re: Exeter St Davids OO

Long time since I updated, but this last project took ages and as posting pictures here is a ball ache I'm only showing a few. How it started

Re: Exeter St Davids OO

New addition to the fleet. I wanted 50 044 Exeter when it came out but I already had Glorious and Indomitable still unpacked brand new in their boxes. Needless to say they are still packed away! I probably should get them on the layout or sold. I doubt it can be good for them to be stored for years ...

Re: Exeter St Davids OO

I did mention I'd changed the fiddle yard. Here is the before and after picture. This is a cropped section of the layout, the top is before, bottom after. Now every road (10 of them) is long enough for my HSTs. The green and yellow lines (far left) are the main up and down that enter the fiddle just...

Re: Scenic Area vs. Programming Track

My programming track was (and still can be) a separate piece of track which is ballasted and can be plugged in when needed and has extension wires so I can use it on my work bench. It was also used for display when selling as it has a scenic back board/scene on it before I started to get some scener...

Re: Exeter St Davids OO

So I got a few hours on the railway today. I should have been prioritising running the accessory bus but it was to nice to be under the baseboard today, I also had an itch to scratch after getting some new GPS signals from rusty rails. These are true to scale; the last ones I bought off the Bay are ...

Thanks Phred. To be fair all the junk is on the bit out of shot!

Re: Exeter St Davids OO

That's a good idea; perhaps not a massive piece like I have over the main part, but a smaller inlaid segment perhaps. There's not that much to see at the far end as the top section is 5 dead end sidings which cover the the entrance to the fiddle yard and incline to the upper section below.

Re: Exeter St Davids OO

I've started the landscaping with plaster bandage but need more which should arrive tomorrow, hopefully early. Had a tidy up and whilst rummaging through all my wood I thought I'd use the glass sheet that's been sitting on top of the workbench I've just shortened as the worktop for the bench above t...

Re: Exeter St Davids OO

Amazing how long a little job takes. Had most of the day in there today but doesn't look like much has changed. Lots of time taken up with woodwork, painting, soldering, cutting, more cutting and lots of hoovering trying to keep the dust down. When I started toying with this idea the other day I kne...

Re: Exeter St Davids OO

Thanks for the comments. I really do think the surgery was a good idea, not only has it opened up the southern end which was a little cramped, but it's allowed me to finesse the incline a little. I didn't get all the track done yesterday as I'd hoped, but I finished it off this morning and did some ...
