Re: Market Street (formerly CandO)
Welcome back! No there doesn't HAVE to be a fiddle yard. It is your layout so do what you want! Presumably you will need to re-model the tunnel to allow for two tracks? The existing entry or blue entry should be OK and the yellow for anti-clockwise if you want it to be two way. I'm no expert though....

Re: Basic numpty question
Thanks Bigmet When no power applied I can simply push the loco around the track with no friction. It has been a while since I have run any locos but I expected friction from the driving wheels. That would point to your first stated problem being in the issue? The gear on the driven axle is slipping ...

Basic numpty question
I am selling some locos etc for a friend. Another friend bought a Harry Potter set (unused) but the loco doesn't move. I have tested it and the motor is working but not driving the wheels. I tested wire directly to the wheels and they did move. Back on track nothing. So what appears to be the issue ...

Re: Secondhand trains on Facebook?
I've managed to shift a fair amount of my friend's hoard via FB and no issues. Sold at relatively low prices which helps. Muggins - see my For Sale post and see if there is anything you fancy. There are stills some BNIB/as new sets plus many foreign stock if that is your preference and some older st...

Re: Birmingham New Street and Brettell Road in P4
Been a long time since I looked in. This is frighteningly good work - I love the leaves on the bridge, not sure I've seen this elsewhere. I haven't looked back for an explanation but tell me how you have done the rain, is it just camera trickery?
Brilliant might sum it up.

Re: Bill's New Extension. ----Update.
Hey Bill, good to see you still modelling. A very long time since I posted and even longer since I did any modelling. Maybe one day soon! Went to the local show (WycRail) and bought a 2nd hand DCC loco so who knows maybe spending some money will kick start some desire etc!

Thanks chaps - good to see some friendly faces still here. Just back from Wyc Rail. Think I shall investigate track plans and the module idea and see where we end up!

Re: Andrew's New Loft Layout
Hey guys, well we finally moved at the start of July! Not a huge amount to do in the house except to get used to it 9we were in the last place 1 month shy of 21 years!). Loft will need a clearing and tidying before I can dream of starting even a small project but maybe within 6 months??? May attend ...

Re: Andrew's New Loft Layout
6 months? Make that two years! Flying visit as getting a modicum of interest back. However, as we are moving house (hopefully within 6-8 weeks) the layout is no more as I have dismantled it all, removed the baseboards and supports and have a clean and tidy loft where once a grand project was startin...

Thanks both. Useful info. Will go for the Lenz in this instance but like the look of the Zimo for extra grunt and fancies!

Which decoder?
Long time since I have been on the forum but .... I have a Hornby 09 R2872 dcc ready. My simple question(!) is which decoder do I use. Not interested in sound, just running, lights (if any) and smooth control. If I don't want to break the bank but avoid Hornby/Bachmann do I look at Zimo? Any others?...
