Re: Dapol/Kitmaster "Deltic"

My combination of Dapol "Deltic" plastic kit body and Hornby Class 55 "St . Paddy" chassis. It is only possible to have interior detail in one cab: https://static.dyp.im/g1I6Z2Mi08/small/65bc966e7da19d882d224b42d92e5690.JPG https://static.dyp.im/2YiAzy4xAw/small/477255b447ca8f730...

Re: Locks & Narrowboats

Thanks Bikey, Something I never considered, maybe I should have done some research first! To quote wikipedia: "The cill, also spelled sill, is a narrow horizontal ledge protruding a short way into the chamber from below the upper gates. Allowing the rear of the boat to "hang" o...

Re: Locks & Narrowboats

I have posted this in the past, the narrowboat is a OO Scalescenes paper model, the canal, based on the Hatton Locks on the Grand Union Canal, is scratch-built from off-cuts of wood and plastic sprue:

Re: RLR: Robs Loft Railway

The landscaped areas/buildings on my layout are freelance, and not based on any actual location. However, I am attempting to model Haworth Station (on the KWVR), a place that I have visited several times. I had previously modelled part of the station (the entrance with ticket office and gift shop) u...

I normally call it what your dad calls it. Maybe its were they used to hang them .(Those things that cannot be mentioned!!! )
I will not be building in my living room, I have sufficient layout space in my loft. (it can be found in Personal Layouts-Under Construction : RLR Robs Loft Railway)

Re: Vale of Askham - OO Gauge

Your layout is what backscenes and low-relief buildings were made for, Yorky! I live in an old terraced house and looking up at what I would call my picture rail , as opposed to dido rail, I can see that a narrow layout would be totally visible. :) (I have my layout in the loft.) http://static.dyp.i...

Re: RLR: Robs Loft Railway

This is an update on my loft layout. I prefer not to have a ballasted "permanent way", as I like to re-arrange my layout at a whim! Any ballast is of the foam variety. There are 3 themed "landscaped" corners, ye olde village with castle, harbour and coal/slate mine. I have recent...

Re: RLR: Robs Loft Railway

Spot on, John! The model is built from a Graham Farish Southern Railways carriage, clear plastic packaging for the end cabs, and yes,a Triang blue/yellow transcontinental motor bogie, attached using the bolt through the roof! Not exactly a scale model, but I like to see myself as an "impression...
