Father Brown BBC1 23/01/2019

Did anyone watch the episode of Father Brown yesterday? Ignoring all the unprototypical railway operating errors, can anyone identify the line and station used on location? Also the model featured in the story, has it been seen on the exhibition circuit or has it been reported on in the modelling ma...

Re: Too much weathering

Yes these are the wagons in question. I have remover the ICI lettering and the continuous brake details as the SUMMERS wagons were loose coupled and I have fixed ladders to each end. I have renumbered the wagons and have applied the SUMMERS lettering to the sides of the body. As some of the wagons w...

Re: Too much weathering

Thanks for you replies, The rake consists of ten Oxford ICI Hopper wagons exclusive to Hattons, which I am converting to a rake of SUMMERS wagons which ran carrying iron ore behind usually a class 9F between Bidston docks in Birkenhead to the John Summers steelworks in Shotton, Flintshire. I'm sorry...

Too much weathering

I posed the following question on the Model Stripping page a week or so ago and am surprised that there have been no responses to it. Perhaps it is on the wrong page, so I am asking the question again under a new category. Someone out there must have a suggestion or two. "Having bought a RTR ra...

Re: Model stripping

Having bought a RTR rake of weathered wagons, I think that they are a little over weathered and would like to tone the weathering down a bit.
Any ideas please?

Using the track as a bus

My previous fixed layout was a large double track run around with associated goods yard and a ten road fiddle yard. The under board bus consisted of wire from twin core and earth mains wire with every piece of track connected by at least a pair of droppers. Electrically this proved to be ok. I have ...

Decoder output voltages

I will shortly be fitting DCC decoders to some older diesel locos, to which I will also be fitting headlights with leds. What is the voltage output from the decoder on the yellow, white, green and purple wires so that I can fit white light leds with the correct resistors? I will not be fitting red r...

Tts chip

I have a Hornsby castle class loco with tts sound. I am very pleased with the loco and sounds apart from the number of exhaust beats, it only does 2.5 beats to a revolution of the driving wheels which is a bii off putting.. Is there any way to change the chip to give the correct number of chuffs per...

Model Railway Constructor

Hi All I am interested in an article that appeared in the June 1961 edition of the magazine. Does anyone know how I can get to see or borrow a copy of the mag or the article? Our club recently disposed of all our ancient magazines going back to the 50s but we did not have any MRCs in our collection....

Reverse Loop DCC Modules

I m currently planning a new layout (in fact the baseboards are built and the track plan is being laid out on it). The fiddle yard will require a reverse loop module to automatically change the electrical polarity of the tracks. I understand that some modules are not compatible with certain controll...

Re: MODEL RAILWAY CLUBS

The Wirral and North Wales Model Railway Club (Formerly the Buckley and District MRC) is situated at Neston on the Wirral. The membership subscriptions are £6per week which covers Tuesday and Thursday evening sessions. We consider that at £1 an hour it is good value. At present the club is keeping a...

Spare Decoders

As I am slowly replacing the chips in my loco stock with sound decoders over a period of time, I am finding that I am building up a decent sum of old but serviceable basic decoders. Is there an alternative use for them? Can they be adapted to perform other functions? I'm sure that others of you have...

Re: Heljan class128 pcb sockets

Thanks Bigmet, this afternoon with the help of a powerful magnifying glass I took the bull by the horns and soldered the wires to the appropriate tags on the decoder. I may have bridged two of the tags but as No 22 is not used it did not matter. The loco runs fine with all the right noises so all is...
