Re: Gateside & Northbridge
j Parts of the loft have been roughly partitioned off and I plan to remove this, as a result this gives me a generous 19ft by 12 ft layout area, Cheers Jim How does that compare with the original G&N? Is a total re-incarnation possible, or in mind? Hi Ex-Pat, IIRC the version of Gateside and No...

Re: Gateside & Northbridge
Hi all So the move went very well and we have been in the house for seven weeks. There has been a lot of decorating to do so have been fully employed painting etc. Nothing done layout wise yet but plenty of potential in the loft which is already floored and has an access ladder. One of the previous ...

Re: Free Age of Steam Sound Effects
Hi all, picked up this beauty at the local antique centre this morning.
The dealer had loads to sell at £5 each, in perfect condition. Just bought the one as I also bought a class 31, three Hornby sleeping cars and some wagons so I didn't want to push it!

Re: Cliches of Layouts or Model Railways that you dislike.
Hi all Here is one from me, might be controversial, but this thread is mainly about personal taste. As a Modeller of Scottish railways, I love to see other Scottish based layouts for inspiration however I am becoming thoroughly fed up with the number of West Highland based layouts on forums and on t...

Re: Gateside & Northbridge
Thanks everyone for you kind thoughts, the good news is that we have agreed a sale on the flat, so just to agree the move date, hopefully as soon as possible. As an aside, I received a surprise birthday present from my son yesterday 20231018_123118_copy_1024x768.jpg Keeping it boxed until after the ...

Re: Gateside & Northbridge
Thanks for all the kind thoughts guys, much appreciated.
Thinks are moving incredibly fast and we have had an offer accepted on a house.....
Loft is full height, approximately 19ft long by 10ft wide, think I might be able to squeeze something into that, so it begins yet again!!!

Re: Gateside & Northbridge
Hi all. OK, everyone sitting down? The layout has been completely dismantled! Why? Well we started having some issues with the downstairs residents, the young couple had been OK but since the summer there have been a series of late night parties and on one occasion we had to call the police and as a...

Hi Manna, looks like a good big project, just the job for your fleet of locos.
Best of luck with it.

Hi all, I wired up the lights tonight. Theses were bought online from Kytes Lights and are very good value. The signal has been powered to show a green aspect, but the logic circuit still needs to be done, nothing complicated on this section. 20230821_193847_copy_1024x768.jpg 20230821_193823_copy_10...

Re: Gateside & Northbridge
Hi all, Phase 1 of the stairway completed and in position. The original Glasgow Central Low Level stairs had white ceramic tile cladding, of course the smokey sulphurous atmosphere made them dirty very quickly, and I have tried to recreate this. I haven't quite got it right but as this was the third...

Re: Gateside & Northbridge
Is that the Bachmann example of a class 46? I have two early Bachmann class 46's (Just before Bachmann converted the chassis with DCC sockets (I hard wired them to DCC)), and as I purchased two the same (No different versions back then) I saw thesimilarity to my Mainline split headcode class 45, an...
