Re: Back scenes

I used hardboard for the backscenes and the initial application of the printed paper sheet directly to the wood using PVA was not successful, despite taking great care the paper still wrinkled and bubbled. I then tried gluing the printed paper backscene to good quality cartridge paper using a glue s...

Re: Something for your Christmas layouts

It reminds me of one year when Cumbernauld MRG exhibited our layout "Exchange Square" at Aberdeen Exhibition, the organisers told us that we were in the lead in the visitors vote for best layout, then the O gauge dogtrack next to us started running one of those and scooped the prize

Re: Thompson all steel coaches

Do you know what happened to them Jim? Yep - A quick Google found that they went into Departmental stock http://www.departmentals.com/photo/975881 975881/2 as CE Instruction coaches, it is thought that E1705E was scrapped but E1706E survived and has been restored at the Llangollen Railway. http://w...

Re: Book on signals

The first place I always direct people with signalling inquiries is https://www.signalbox.org/ , if you cannot find what you are looking for on the site there is a forum with some very well informed members. What is it you rare looking for, track /signalling plans or photographs of actual signals? Jim

Re: Gateside and Northbridge

The St Margaret's project will be moved up the list - I was at the Cathcart Exhibition a the weekend and an after an idle rummage bought four 2nd hand Peco points in good condition for the princely sum of £20. Need three lengths of Streamline, Uddingston Model shop still have stock so will try and s...

Re: Kavster's Loft Build

I bet you can't wait to get to run trains! Make sure the floor is sound and the hatch has some sort of gate for when you are up there. I nearly fell down someone's attic hatch once or twice! Too easy to forget it is there! Will be really good when your trains are running. :) Or better still a cover...

Re: BARGAINS!

A new retailer has started up called the Range - it describes itself as a "multi-channel variety retailer". Anyhow I was in the East Kilbride store at the weekend and they have the 2mm pasteboard in A1 sheets for £2.99 or 4 for £10, perfect for card buildings, they also have a lot of "...

Re: Kavster's Loft Layout

Hi Kavster - Some things to consider before planning. 1) Access - a couple of your plans feature 8ft x 4ft solid boards, have you got access to all sides of the board? If not then you will have big problems if you need to get to the back of the layout to clean track and fix derailments. a reach of 2...

Re: NRM 2017 00 'Tour' STARTED

Glad to see that Guy arrived safely, great photographs TImbersurf.

As Geoff says, Guy is becoming a regular basher with the list of different haulage mounting up, no "big" steam locos yet, worried about hot embers falling? :D
