It could be that the commutator is dirty, when it stops, try giving it a little push and see if it sets off again.

There's no additional ballast in a 37/5 m8, it's just got the alternator and new bogies over a /0.

66s don't need servicing. They're badly built, and uncomfortable for the crew, but from a reliability point of view they're very very good.

IEP - what a massive pile of poo that is. A train which will be so heavy it'll be inoperable without massive subsidy, which will be uncomfortable, cause massive track damage, and have bugger all seats in it so it'll go.
