Re: 48DS first impressions

Hi Paul, did you take a photo before you put the top back on, I'd love to see where you fitted in the speaker and chip. I took photos of the whole process. They will be in the Step by Step photo guide in my feature for Hornby Magazine Issue 150 (out in a couple of weeks), so I'll have to keep it un...

Re: 48DS first impressions

It's a great model for sure, but I also had one with a 'clicky hip' which required a strip down to trace the problem. Most of the model's parts are metal which makes it quite welghty for its size. The cab is held from below by a couple of cross head screws. with the cab released from the footplate, ...

Re: K1 decoder

I'm having problems with this at the moment, but they are supposed to be able to have working brakes on non sound decoders now. I'll let you all know when I get down to the 'sorting it out' bit. Peter, I've emailed you regarding your specific issue. For general information: The MX600 decoder family...

Thanks

Only downside is that with a stay alive the analogue (DC) function on the decoder must be disabled using CV29.

Not if you use a ZIMO decoder you don't. ZIMO's decoders work fine on DC with stay alives fitted.

Re: Sound decoder died in storage? (Maybe)

Digitrains have confirmed its dead They have suggested sending it back to Zimo for repair. Has anyone done this? And how much would it cost even if they could repair it (I realise it depends on what's wrong but a ball park price). If they fixed it I would have to get it's sound uploaded again. Part...

Re: Sound

One would have thought uncoupling would have gone ahead of sound development by now. Trouble is if you're shunting it's rarely the loco that you need to uncouple. I'm surprised they haven't paid more attention to lighting on OO scale locos myself. One of the first that came ready fitted into a Bach...

Farish Class 40 R-T-R Sound-fitted.

Bachmann/Farish has just released this video of the upcoming factory sound Class 40. Really good video showing the model performing a variety of 'everyday' duties, the appropriate sounds and the F keys to use. Bit like a tutorial on how to drive, 'cause no one reads the instructions, do they? https:...

Hornby Peckett; is DCC sound possible?

Yes, it is. Hornby Magazine issue 117 has a step by step photoguide showing how it's done. Here's video to demo some of the sounds.

Re: Whats all this stuff about frog juicers anyhow

The natural commercial interest in selling product has to be accepted, and is relatively benign in model railway compared to many other hobbies. Easily countered with a little knowledge in any case. Just remember to sell the cost saving benefit of using the inbuilt switches on the point motors, rat...
