Re: Rowenwood

Only been a few minor updates to the layout, few scenic tweaks and ironing out a couple of electrical issues (pva glue getting in places it shouldn't!). Had a little running session and took a few pics, enjoy!

Re: Rowenwood

New addition to Rowenwood! 'Ditcheat Manor' in BR Black adding to the western region feel. IMG_1301.JPG However, having a few issues with the newbie. Runs smoothly enough considering I need to give it an oil and a proper run it, but having an odd issue on points. Every time it reaches a set, the loc...

Re: Rowenwood

Final week of summer before the postgraduate course starts on Monday, so I've taken the final opportunity of free time to finish as much of the base scenery as I could. Never used static grass before, but fairly pleased with the results. I was going for a slightly run down and overgrown look, which ...

Re: Layout designs 12 x 4

What features are you really keen to include? Are you looking for a branch line terminus style layout, modern image MPD style? I’d be happy to play around with some potential designs for you!

Re: Rowenwood

Been working a lot on the station area recently, finally getting into some of the finer detail which has taken some getting used to in N, found some of it very fiddly! Started by picking up some canopy kits, station benches, and lampposts before spending a fair few afternoons being laughed at by my ...

Re: Summer Holiday Build

Nice start. :D NICE START.jpg It looks like the Hornby Trakmat R771: R771.jpg That’s what it’s based on. I’m a total novice at this sort of thing, so I went with what should be a tried and tested setup. However.... https://www.instagram.com/p/B1eHh38n2VV/?igshid= This points layout doesn’t make sen...

Re: Rowenwood

What did you use to get the platform surface looking so good Firstly, thank you! And secondly, all I used is the Metcalfe stone platform kit. It’s a really good little kit with tonnes of flexibility and their tarmac surface has a nice matt finish to it. I’m going to spruce it up with some weatherin...

Re: Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland

Well that is sad news, what a wonderful layout. I trawled through this thread when I first joined, looking for inspiration as I was modelling the same era, I found plenty!

Re: Rowenwood

Been working on the small engine shed area, used a mixture of fine cinders ballast and round up real coal to create a few small piles of coal around the area. I also rusted up some spare lengths of rail and some (not seen in these photos) spare wheels and scattered them around as some shed clutter. ...

Re: Rowenwood

Dammit, had to bin the station and start again. Tested the gauging of it with my 9F and some mark ones and all was well, but my 08 shutter fouls on the platform! Attempts to trim it down just ruined the edges of it and it looked scrappy. Had to buy another one, with lesson well and truly learnt to ...

Re: Rowenwood

Hi dursleydog, coming on nicely, but it does show up one of the disadvantages of printed retaining walls. repetitive patches! It's not your fault, it's a consequence of repeating "random" variations. If you can get an editable version of the file you print there's something you can do abo...

Re: Rowenwood

Had some more time to work on the layout and more kits arrived! Built my station and station building (really love that metcalfe wayside station kit) which means most of the major infrastructure is now in place. The track is all painted now, it will get another light weathering once the ballast is a...

Re: Farish 08 only runs one way!

You can have the Select upgraded to V1.6. When upgraded it will then be able to read and write CVs and therefore reset decoders. It will need to be returned to Hornby for the upgrade. Cost is £15 Will Hornby do this even if I bought the select 2nd hand and unboxed? Yes, no problem. You need to cont...
