Re: Tonglington Abbey - Kato N Gauge Unitrack in 4ft by 16ins

My locomotives have no issues with the track, they just don't work very well in general. Alexander. When I tried N gauge I found I tended to be spending ages cleaning track and wheels. I also found this with H0e despite the high quality chassis. I found 00 gauge to be better, but surprizingly, sinc...

Re: Siddington Junction Locomotive, Carriage & Wagon Works

Were the the old Shredded Wheat coaches? Nope, They were four wheel GWR coaches, Farish did four wheel coaches in GWR, LMS, LNER, SR, CR and SDJR liveries in N gauge, these are quite hard to get and I was almost tempted to sell them on for an easy profit but decided I would rather repaint. The dema...

Thanks, I might do in future if I get some more four wheelers to repaint and do them all in one batch.

Re: Tonglington Abbey - Kato N Gauge Unitrack in 4ft by 16ins

Very nice. How do you find how Kato track performs? I like the way you have ballasted around it. Thanks :) I find that while the trackbed is raised and harder to convincingly ballast, the track connection style is much better than peco, the fishplates aren't ruined within minutes of rearranging tra...

Time for some progress, from the rolling stock point of view this time. At Siddington Works the staff have been busy and now coaches they have been working on have returned and entered revenue earning service, I've taken a few pictures to post here. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7908/47101510911_74...

Re: Siddington Junction Locomotive, Carriage & Wagon Works

Nice smart job - I like the contrast in roof colours. Thanks! I had thought about repainting the roof pieces on the four wheelers but I couldn't get round to it and now I'm not sure If I want to. Also thank you for sayin it's a ''Nice smart job'' because it was hell painting because the three year ...

Re: Siddington Junction Locomotive, Carriage & Wagon Works

It seems the paint brushes finally defrosted the last week or so and the paint shop in the workshop reopened at Siddington. While over visiting family in the UK back at the end of November last year I went to a collectors shop in Stowmarket and happened upon a Grafar LMS Suburban coach and two four ...

Excellent work, Alex. Well done. Glencairn Thank you! Apologies for what seemed like the sudden death of this thread, but since the layout moved house with us it has spent most of its time in a cupboard, it suffered some minor damage after the initial move but nothing major and this has been rectif...

Re: Hornby 2019 Range Speculation Thread

I did some online reading about a warner bros/DC comics deal with Hornby, apparently there's talk of trainsets (potter?),scalextric(batman...again?) and corgi (both series diecast?) possibly. But warner bros or whoever said they had "big plans" with hornby in 2019.

Re: Hornby 2019 Range Speculation Thread

Had a thought in the bath last night, What about doing the J15 as a Y14 in GER livery (and surprise GER six Wheelers!) that would be nice and not too difficult to do I don't think? Mind you I'm not as clued up on the engineering differences between the two versions. Wonder what the club 0-4-0 will b...

Re: Decision time - the sale of the century

I was hoping to get a few items, there was some stuff i did want that sold out, but my old landlord is being a See You Next Tuesday and hasn't returned my deposit nearly two months after we moved out, and so not only did me and the misses not have money to get ourselves anything nice for christmas (...

Re: Hornby 2019 Range Speculation Thread

Now that they have stopped renewing the Thomas license maybe we will see some interesting reliveries of those models (with smokebox doors added) in the railroad range, perhaps LBSC extended tank E2, industrial livery percy, L&Y livery on the old James? I know, highly unlikely. I do hugely regret...

Re: Tonglington Abbey - Kato N Gauge Unitrack in 4ft by 16ins

Time for another small update! This one is just about adding some foliage and is the last time I did any real photography of the layout before moving house. I will start by saying that we have very limited internet access at the moment, we have no broadband or phoneline at the new house yet, however...

Meticulous planning, very nice. I take note that your mixed goods train has a small rake of dairy wagons. Was this a common practice in the day? Thanks! I have no idea but branch lines did have mixed trains. Sorry I haven't been active lately but I'm finally moving to a better house this week. Alex
