Re: hornby elite controller

Good Advise from Flashbang. Do solder the wires, clips are not a good idea. One other suggestion. CV 29. Set this to 2. or 3. if loco goes in reverse. CV 19. Set this to 0. If you can reset to default 3 which should clear all settings. Reset CV 29 & 19 to above. If this solves the problem then f...

Re: Hattons decoders.

I just do not like Hattons decoders, tried one once, Yuck. Please remember CV 29 is a very important CV, if its not set up properly all sorts of running problems can occur. Its not difficult, just read the settings available and program to those. Add the values you want together then enter the total...

Re: Advice on Second Hand Locos

I run a number of Tender Drive Hornby Locos. I decided to upgrade the motors to 5 pole. Also decided to fit a decent decoder. Zimo. The wiring was easy. I had no problems with brush screws shorting All in All I am pleased with the outcome. Performance is as good as any, but then I do program the rel...

Re: Small and Larg Decoders.

Assume by DC you mean Analogue. You may have to use CV29. Add a value of 4 to enable DC.

Re: Small and Larg Decoders.

I may be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that Hattons branded decoders do not have CV6 available ?

Re: Small and Larg Decoders.

NO. Bit blunt that answer. These modern times decoders have got smaller, once they had been rather large. Not always possible to fit in a Loco. Think the smallest I have seen is the CT electronic. ( may not be spelt right) No decoder should have any effect on a Loco performance. Plus no matter how s...

Re: Dcc controller from USA

RFS is correct. Just had a look myself.I think there is another 3% added on top of the Vat, plus handling charges. So beware. Lennie.

Re: Traintronics TT300 point motors and DCC

Most unfortunate your experience with TT 300s. As I said I have 8 of these, and only one had to go back for reprogramming. Four of them have Berko colour light signals wired in. Neither can I understand lack of response to your calls, always answered mine, I know others have complained of this. Lenn...

Re: Decoder Adapaters

Might be best to use a wires only decoder. Even if you do use this type of adapter you would have to shorten the wires. I have converted a number of none DCC Locos and always use a wires only. If you use the plug and socket type decoder ( cant remember what they are called) you can select from a ran...
