Re: Dragonfly's Workbench

A little bit more progress on the workbench itself (now that my Workbench thread appears to be about the workbench itself): I've added a narrower (40cm deep) racking unit behind the workbench unit, giving a bit more desk space and a couple of shelves. These will hold my 3D printer and my laptop when...

Re: Dragonfly's Workbench

Evening all, So nothing to update on the 7mmNG wagons yet, as they had been put to one side while I've had a major sort out of my half of the garage, and reorganised how things are done. Firstly, I've bought a few racking units ( link ). As the vertical beams are 2 sections, you can build them as pi...

Re: Dragonfly's Workbench

Go for it! :D Now you see why I love 7mm narrow gauge. Absolutely. I first dabbled in it when I was in my teens, but didn't stick with it until about five years ago when I started assisting a few 7mmNG layouts. We've got one club layout in this gauge, and four of our members have/had layouts as wel...

Re: Dragonfly's Workbench

Absolutely; with how cheap these are, and how well they turn out (so far), I've been able to really get into it.
And like yourself I've started planning a few of my own designs based on the underframes; tank wagons, hoppers, and the like.

Re: Dragonfly's Workbench

I have a spare packet or two of Bachmann small tension lock couplings... At least one packet. Much appreciated, however I seem to be jumping into this with both feet, with currently 34 wagons, and a planned further 38. So I'm looking at somewhat more industrial quantities. If Peter Spares one...

Re: Dragonfly's Workbench

I have found a very cheap source of tension locks, at last (Replica Railways do packs of 10 for £3.50), so that option is now back on the table of possibilities. I'd have to make NEM pockets though (or glue the couplings in place), so will have to have a tinker at making some, while waiting for Repl...

Re: Wagon Number Sequences?

Thanks all for the feedback. Very much appreciated. So locos and coaches will be numbered separately; makes sense. So I don't need to leave gaps for coaches. For the wagons I've gone for a semi-haphazard system at this time, haven't put in any gaps yet, but at the moment I'm looking at something lik...

Re: Dragonfly's Workbench

Wow. I'd considered making my own, but hadn't considered that particular arrangement (or drawing pins at all). I might have to have a play with that idea myself, thanks!

Re: Dragonfly's Workbench

After a weekend spent mainly in the garage working on baseboards, I still don't have much to show on here. But one little project I've begun is building up a 7mm narrow gauge fleet. I have a couple of locos and coach kits, but first off is putting some wagons together. These are all 3D printed kits ...

Wagon Number Sequences?

Evening all, So I'm putting together a few batches (about 40 in total) of freelance narrow gauge wagons (to be detailed in my workbench thread), of various types, and while I'm waiting for the primer to dry I'm looking in to how to number them. Does anyone have insight into this kind of thing? Would...

Re: New layout

I've had a bit of a play in Anyrail to see if this is even possible, and it just works ...ish. The outer loop, fine, as long as, as you said, you use 1st radius curves in the middle 90° of the 180° turns. The goods yard, however, doesn't really fit. You won't be able to get 3 sidings in, only 2. And...

Re: Hornby make attempt at World Domination

Well that's a few more pennies pre-spent on pre-orders for me then  One WD Ruston diesel and two B2 Pecketts (Sherwood and NCB - I'll narrow it down to one but not sure which yet). A couple of other tempting items too, but nothing that stands out as much as those two new ranges, which are both ...
