Re: help with cv,s
I don't have any Bachmann decoders, but a quick search has shown a few references to the 36-553 not being very friendly towards the Hornby Select, It may well be that the Selects slightly iffy waveform is at fault, I had a similar problem with Gaugemaster decoders, when I used the Select they would ...

Re: Ratio for raising track
Forgot to say, I have two inclines on my layout both 1:40, most modern all wheel drive diesels will take between 9 and 11 carriages up this, modern pacific types manage 6 or 7 carriages. Older designs like the ringfield Hornby HST will manage about 2+4 configuration. These figures include standing s...

Re: Ratio for raising track
The absolute maximum recommended incline is about 1:40 for most applications, if you have space something approaching 1:60 is desirable.(Not many of us have the space required for this) As for the ratios, 1:40 means to raise the track level by 1cm you need an incline 40cm long. 1:60 means to rise 1c...

Re: Replacement for Ringfield motor.
I should think DCC'ing one of these might be an easy way of limiting the voltage applied to the motor, by using CV5(top volts). So long as it's supported obviously.

Re: Model Railway Magazines
Railway modeler for me I'm afraid, old habits die hard. Just wish the advertisement to article ratio could be adjusted. Seems to be more and more pages of stuff for sale each month. I like the quality of the photography and the the show guide is fairly comprehensive. Occasionally I pick up a copy of...

Re: Class 33/0 Rail Exclusive Upgrade
Since my previous post I have contacted Rail Exclusive and they told me that the Class 33 project was still ongoing. I asked if they had even the faintest idea when the models might be released, they said it would be a good while yet, I asked if it would be within the next 12 months and was told it ...

It would probably look a site better if the cable part was actually painted matt/satin black.

Re: Should I use Peco OO Streamline code 100 or code 75?
I was in exactly the same boat, I went with the code 100, after 5 mins you won't even notice the rail height when your old locos are trundling round. It also means any secondhand purchases of less than modern stock will run on your layout without issue. Code 100 rail is a little more robust when han...

I can't see why not. Even if it cracks a bit when it dries it will give texture, adding realism.

Re: x04 0-6-0 to dcc
If you have sleeved the brush spring, that should do it. The gears don't need changing and the small plate that the brushes fit through is insulated from the motor frame. If You can, check with a multimeter that the brushes are definitely isolated from the chassis, if this is the case you are good t...
