Re: making your own corrugated panels

As you can see from Bob (say hi Bob) and his 54 Buick, they really are to scale, and this also gives you the true scale of these buildings, he is outside the machine room, this is where the rollers are driven, the gas for the lance in the kiln is fed and the conveyor system is controlled, it was the...

Re: making your own corrugated panels

A quick update the reason for my needing to make so many corrugated panels is this! DCP_3938.JPG this is a cement plant based on memory from working there, and although this is a smaller version of the real place as you can see its still massive as you will see later on, so here is a few pics of wha...

Re: Wordsworth Card Kits - FREE downloads

long live the three foot rule, (or 18 inches in N-gauge), I know I go to extremes sometimes with tiny details that most people just dont or cant see, but thats just for me, I know they are there, but dont be too hard on yourself, your building looks great from what I can see, especially as it is in ...

Re: Wordsworth Card Kits - FREE downloads

I have to admit also that I have made many card models over the years, both paid and free, and mikes efforts are really the best I have come across, not only because they look good as designed and built, but all of them lend their selves to to being butchered and modified quite easily, I dont know w...

Re: Spray Glues. What's the difference?

looks like I may have thrown you a curve- ball, Halfords seem to be the only listed distributer in the uk for loctite products, everything else seems to be in europe, (according to their own site), hope you find some, if not try the 3m 77, its not as fine a spray, but it would be my other choice.

Re: Spray Glues. What's the difference?

all the details I can give you are on the can, so if you double click the photo to enlarge it you may read all the blurb on the can, I got this at "home depot" (B&Q type store) three weeks ago, so its "current" for $3.99 and it contains 13.5 oz. spray glue1.jpg spray glue2.jp...

Re: Spray Glues. What's the difference?

there are as many spray glues as there are substances to glue together, I have a range of them and it all depends on whether I am doing upholstery, woodwork, or plastic, there are many kinds, but the one I use for card and paper is this one, DCP_3880.JPG its made by loctite, and one of the cheapest ...

Re: making your own corrugated panels

ok had a slow day this afternoon, so I tried the glue last night and it ended up simply too thick, it looked odd next to the foil, however I did try something else to make the sky-lights, ours are fiberglass and are a white rigid plastic, but both are slightly opaque, anyway whilst drinking my tea a...

Re: making your own corrugated panels

thank you peroni for that link, I used to follow martin a couple of years ago, he has some great ideas, I did see others doing a similar thing with other substances, however, I do use a wood glue that dries clear, and will try that method on some ribbontape and see if I can make some clear panels an...

Re: making your own corrugated panels

thanks bufferstop, and thank you for trying, I did think the layers would be a problem, it all looks so big when you draw it in cad, but in reality I know the sizes, so for now I will just carry on with my roller-mill as it is, it works and it was cheap to build, but I will still keep one eye open f...

Re: making your own corrugated panels

yes I fully agree, however thats not going to happen, I have spent hours and hours over the last couple of years looking for something even slightly close, so I think its time to consider an alternative approach. I have watched plenty of 3D printers at work, and the SLA seem to be better suited to t...

Re: making your own corrugated panels

thanks bufferstop, it was a fortunate unexpected find when I wasnt looking for them, yes I had noticed the precision screwdrivers but they (over here anyway) are simply monkey-metal with mild steel tips, I use them on soft stuff, but I think the small diameter would make it hard to drive with the st...

Re: Planning a points layout board

there are many ways to do a mimic board, most seem to go with one board, well I (just to be different) with my roundy roundy decided to make it easier on the wiring aspect to make three simpler mimic boards, one on each side inside my center hole, few pics, explanations and what I used. for the boar...

Re: making your own corrugated panels

A quick update. after a bit of weathering, first a helicopter view DCP_3911.JPG and a side view DCP_3915.JPG and the other side, the tar/mastic is simply black paint to outline fhe patches and repairs, and then using Isopropyl alcohol and a cotton buds to carefully clean the panel area of all the pa...
