Re: Rayne St, Fictional N-Gauge Layout - Update 22/01/13
Evening peeps, Haven't been on here for quite a while. Lot been happening - Back in work for last 6mths, started beekeeping & helping a friend with his saffron growing. Due to being busy with the above & also planning to move, little has happened with the layout. Except for a bit of work on ...

Re: Temperature Allowances For "OO" Outdoors...
You'll also need to take into account thermal expansion of the rails. 6C to 40C is a large temperature range for model railway to cope with. As Bufferstop said, this is air temp. Metal exposed to direct sunlight will be significantly hotter, possibly 80C+. If you lay track when its 6C, the themal ex...

A roads 21ft = 84mm = 3.31ins in OO B roads 18ft = 72mm = 2.83 ins in OO A street road with parking on both sides 24ft = 96mm = 3.78 ins in OO Country lanes vary normally between 10 - 16ft = 40 - 6...

More scenic gems. I really love the scene of the workers taking a break, no doubt soaking up the sun. And the newspaper sitting on the chaps' lap is great touch.
How many more hidden equisite scenes do you have yet to reveal Phil?

Re: Stoketon update - N gauge + River Exe
I have to agree, this is a lovely layout. The way the countryside blends into the village & station is excellent. The river scene is exquisite. Especially the way the river cuts into the far bank on the bend & shallow stoney deposited on the near, just like the real thing. Does the line by t...

Re: Waton - N gauge challenge
When wired up, wont the current short circuit from 1 rail to the other via the coppercladding? Or is copper cladding not copper? As in nickel-silver rail has no silver in it & is actually copper-nickel rail. That's what the insulating gaps are for, each sleeper has a gap cut in the copper cladd...

How did I miss this thread?. Excellent work there acs1979.
Jumping straight into 2mm fs & 3D printing, is a brave & bold move, which is paying off for you. The under body detailing of your wagons is something else, so intricate.

Re: Waton - N gauge challenge
Waton has been packed up and stuffed in a corner of the workshop since its last outing in August last year. After an exhibition I tend to have a serious lack of motivation to do anything with the trainset ........ Trainset!?? :o ........tsk tsk. Its a work of art. Excellent work in build of your cr...
