Re: Dirty preserved locos?
Referring back to a previous comment about owning groups letting engines get dirty. Speaking as a working volunteer of an owning group, we try and keep them clean as much as possible as working on them is much more pleasant and also shows pride in what we do. However i do understand we're you coming...

Re: Dirty preserved locos?
If you search for photos of 7822 Foxcote Manor or the 44806 Black five at Llangollen then you'll find they've been weathered for gala/ event weekends. also the WD from the KWVR has been weathered for gala appearances, as for loco's that haven't been artificially weathered look for examples of locos ...

Re: Fellow modellers - beware!
I used to help a friend out with his stall and no what ticks people try and pull. I'm not arguing with you, as I'm not here to do that. I appeciate it's not always easy to keep and eye on the stall whilst buying stock. All I'm trying to do is warn people that are new to the hobby or those who are le...

Fellow modellers - beware!
Having just been to a collectors fair in Bridgnorth, I feel the need to warn you over the scam which some traders seem to be pulling. As many of you are aware, a recent magazine has flooded the market with cheap mk1 coaches, however some traders have used this as a way of ripping people of. Twice in...

Re: GWR question.
On a serious note, the GWR were very stuck in the ways, some would say arrogance to changing anything. For decades they had the finest coal to supply to there fleer, that being welsh so designed the loco's and performances to match the coal. Therefore the need for smoke deflectors or even stream lin...

I'm guessing your in reference to the cab windows? I believe there are plans afoot to replace them, however a pattern is being sought to enable that to happen as cab side window aren't readily available on the shelf!

Re: Moor St. B'ham Loco Gone for Restoration..
Just to answer a few questions regarding 2885 as I'm involved with the said loco. There is no plans to the best of my knowledge to replace the spot with another engine. Originally the developer of moor street wanted a loco in keeping with the station and that was chosen. As for the restoration, the ...

Far from it, when they asked the crews what they wanted as replacement traction. They turned round and said the same again, when all they've known was that form of traction and feel comfortable with it, why bother changing?

Re: Quinton Street Junction
Just a quick update, Got bored of painting sleepers so made a start on scratch building the platforms this afternoon. Committed the cardinal sin and under estimated how much balsa wood I'd need and can only go as far as what's visible in the photo's. The fiddle yard is now 90% wired up with just the...
