Re: PC-based sound playback

My first Midi/PC Engine/sound controller can be seen here illustrating something similar to what you suggest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsfBvBrK7ns Was it really over 4 yrs ago? Blimey! Been improved since then! If the software is indeed midi compatible then there are simple hardware methods a...

Re: Layout sounds

I'm wondering if that could have been bypassed by just copying the files onto the phone rather than using any software? Just to elaborate slightly, I have had many pro audio people around me try the itunes software and not only has it messed up thier listening music collection it has also messed up...

Re: Layout sounds

The downside with that is having to install iTunes. One way to seriously mess up your digital music collection. Thanks End2end Yep,fully agree.....sort off. My son was using a itunes app thingy on his mac to upload mp3's to his mobile. Of dear. Was Dad's fault of course for giving hime duff ...

Re: DC Loco Detect

Hi Bufferstop, "the RAM refresh is a little slower than it used to be." You and me both! The idea of a short isolating section may well work with common return as you suggested. Initially I was sceptical as the 'input' is going to a pic and subsequently to a PC. I am thinking that using a ...

Re: DC Loco Detect

Hi Bufferstop, I can see where you are coming from in that the track power would be 'seen' on the isolated section. However to utilse this would mean using a variable voltage 0-12v when the islolated section is bridged by the coupled wheels of the loco. What happens when the direction is changed and...

Re: DC Loco Detect

Hi Flashbang,

Yes thought of that but how do'es the Irdot differentiate between loco and/or train?

DC Loco Detect

Hi Guys, I would like to detect a DC loco at a given point and input this into a digital circuit (TTL). Of course the easiest way would use maybe a de-bounced reed switch with magnet on the loco. However I only have a (min 100ms) window to play with. Can anybody think of a more elaborate method? May...

DC Loco And Layout Sound 4. CD Sound Quality Onboard

Gentlemen, In this penultimate video we look at; a) CD quality sound onboard. (Yes, stereo cd quality sound on a dc loco!) b) off-board bass sounds (Sub speaker) in synch with onboard loco sound. c) the use of psycho-acoustics to enhance the perceived bass onboard our loco's d) using the pseudo-surr...

DC Loco And Layout Sound 2

Well for reasons beyond me ( getting old and doddery!) Video number 2 was not posted here. Maybe because of double posting. Vid1 + Vid1 + Vid3 = 3!!.......... Any way as I am about to post Video 4 I will post video 2 first. In this video we look (and listen) to the use of NXT devices mounted on the ...

DC Loco And Layout Sound 3 Sound On The Move

Hi Gents, In this 3rd Video we are looking at permanent track fed lights aswell as loco sound following in the backscene behind. This is not unlike the Soundtrax and RR@Co's sound addon systems except of course it is for DC. Pse keep a look out for video 4 which promisses a few surprises! http://www...

DC Loco And Layout Sound

Hi Gentlemen, I have for sometime been working on adding sound to DC or analog layouts and have uploaded the first of a possible five videos on the subject to youtube. The first looks at the controller and the second, adding ambient sounds to a layout using a surround system. Please take a look, I h...
