Re: Prog Rock Hornby.
I actually did an Episode of Beaglington-On-Sea which had a section Within about the 'Secret Beatles Trainset' from Hornby. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcSEybQxRiE&t=1377s It's very cool as it gives me (or You if you find one) a Beatles themed engine to haul my Beatles wagons Without having...

Running In On The Straight.
Its not very often I get a new locos, but recently got a new Bachmann Pannier. The instructions say to run it in for 30 minuets at half speed in one direction then 30 minuets in the other. I have an End to End layout about 16 foot long. How do I run in the loco? I could make up a loop of EZ Track bu...

Re: Warley National Exhibition
"The organisers of the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition have decided that it will not be returning for the foreseeable future. The exhibition was run in 2023 at Birmingham's NEC and was another successful event with thousands of visitors. Volunteers run the exhibition, but organisers ha...

Re: Steel Track Solder.
I tend to solder to the bottom of the fishplates where there is a gap in the sleepers. The wire is then threaded down through a hole in the baseboard. Would replacing the fishplates reduce the voltage drop reducing the need for droppers? I guess that someone still makes suitable fishplates for Tria...

Re: Steel Track Solder.
The steel rail is tin plated, so regular resin cored electrical solder will solder to it. But this stuff as you realise was made sometime in a previous millennium, so there will be a layer of transparent strongly adhering tin oxide covering it, which is why tin doesn't corrode away that quickly. Th...

Prog Rock Hornby.
Has anyone else noticed the use of Prog Rock names on Hornby products? We have the King Crimson loco with the (Richard) R.Fripp Mining Company waggon. Then the (Steven) S.Wilson Paper Mills loco. From Marillion we have the (Steve) Hogarth Stone, (Steve) Rothery Industries, (Ian) Mosley Tarmacadam, (...

Re: Furness Railway: Coach Livery Please
In 2007 Christopher Awdry released a book called "Thomas and Victoria". I was researching how to create a model of Victoria based on a Bachmann Clarabelle coach. That is how I discovered this post. I had forgotten the Skarloey Railway coaches where blue and white. I wonder if that was the ...

Re: Forgetful Decoder.
I am using a Gaugmaster Prodigy Advance2. It dose say to switch off the base unit before switching off the mains power. I mostly remember to do that. The loss of memory has only happened a couple of time and with different manufactures. The sound and lighting changes are the same as when last used, ...

Forgetful Decoder.
Now this has happened before and is not exclusive to Bachmann. I have a Bachmann American Sound Value loco. I changed the address to 4449 plus some of the sound a lighting CV's. Have not ran it for a few months, maybe nearly a year. Went to run it to find that it has reverted back to address No.3. A...

Re: 'interesting' use of a dead cat
You don't have to wait for the cat to die to use their whiskers: they do shed them from time to time, together with a whole heap of hair at times! :D Yes, my dad has used shed whiskers for aerials on military models. As for hair we have a large long haired black cat. Have to rake the carpet and bus...
