Re: The BNR (another way)

No third rail planned, the 73 is running on diesel which might also explain its limited haulage :) . An extension might be on the cards in the next year or two though...

Re: If you were a model railway manufacturer, what would you make?

Cast metal lamps similar to the green Hornby canopy uprights that would plug into Hornby's plastic platform sections. A detectable plug-in base could also be produced to allow the lamps to be used in other areas. Imagine how many Hornby platform sections are in use on layouts around the world with t...

Re: The BNR (another way)

The British Rail services, which run through the tunnel from the UK to Ballybongle, tend to take a lower profile on the island and only run on the mainline unless there is a special event. BR Stock changes are rare, as vehicles have to be converted to island's 4 foot 1.5 inch gauge. It was recently ...

Re: The BNR (another way)

Workshop staff have finally got around the painting the benches in the BNR's corporate colour of Humbrol 14 French Blue. Passengers were brought in for final bench testing :-) . BenchBarrow.JPG Workshop staff also found two broken wheel barrows in the stores. The over enthusiastic track gang had bro...

.... Does Peter's Spares do replacement wheels for Lima as they used them everywhere (being standard wheels from the H0 range. Yes they do with the different Lima axle length. "Peters Spares PS34 Lima Replacement 12mm Wagon & Coach Wheels (x1 Pair)". https://www.petersspares.com/peter...

Re: Traing R.344 track cleaning car. Any good?

Can I just check something please.... These are the actual wheels in comparison to a Hornby 12.6mm R8096 Metal Disk wheel (on the right) TriangTrackCleaner7.JPG I'm not really sure how to measure them properly so I measured the inner wheel giving roughly 10.6mm TriangTrackCleaner8.JPG And the outer...

Re: Traing R.344 track cleaning car - An Improvement!!

The only other change I would like is to lose those horrilbe plastic wheels but they are no where near the same diameter as regular Hornby / Bachmann / Peco wheels so not an easy replacement.End2end Peter's Spares do replacement 10.5mm metal wheels which are excellent. I've used them on my Hornby c...

You can make benches from coffee stirrers. By chance I've just been working and this and added it to my layout thread.

Re: The BNR (another way)

The BNR's management have been receiving complaints for a number of years about inadequate seating on platforms. Management investigated the seating available from the usual suppliers, but did not consider them sufficiently robust. It turned out that the workshops had quite a large supply of recycle...

Re: Track Cleaner

You can make a new hardboard cleaning sled, as I did with mine. There is a picture of it on page 15 of my layout thread. The sled is removable, so that you can use the coach without it as well.

Re: Where can I find a water tower like this one?

You could possibly pick up a broken Triang oil tank wagon for 50p at a collectors fair. You could then mount the tank on top of a card or balsa box covered in brick paper.
